Actually that doesn't bug me at all. I often go looking at friends of friends and sometimes have no idea what kind of communities I have stumbled into so the warning is appreciated.
Plus - I expect the same posting occurs on multiple communities (I know - many people are too lazy to change it) so it is good to specify.
Sorry - I never even thought of that as a prejudice as I am just that unfamiliar with these fan fic terms. My ignorance is showing because I have no interest in het or slash or whatever as I am not going to read either. Just need to know where I am and am I going to get anything that I didn't bargain for as very occasionally I do read satirical stuff. I not going to study the terms since I have no interest in finding a particular type of fic.
So, for idiots like me it might be one indication not to go further as might be any other classification terms used. But being on a particular site where those in the know understand what it is all about is not really enough but perhaps the other classification terms are more relevant to determine what I don't want.
Yeah, I guess we need to be warned if two men or two women are portrayed in a relationship with each other. Shock. Horror. We don't see more warnings when heterosexual couples are featured in the story.
I think it's absurd. If a story says "Pairing: Hotch/Morgan," you would think any dumbass could tell that it's slash. To "warn" for slash is to imply that something is wrong with slash and that innocent passersby must be alerted.
That pisses me off, too. Not only is it usually redundant like twice over (slash comm, and they usually put the pairing in the header), but it's offensive as hell. Gargh.
