V, SGU, Sanctuary

Okay, I'm way behind commenting on my shows. Here are a few of them.

I watched this several days ago, but I'm just now commenting, so... I'll probably forget something great.

First of all, I'm enjoying the dynamic between Jack and Erica. I'm still shipping them pretty hard. I like that Jack seems like a priest who is trying to fit into this new world and not like an action hero who happens to wear a collar.

I'm finding Anna to be more and more creepy. I didn't expect the girl to be her daughter, so that was a surprise.

I still find myself wanting to smack Tyler. I just don't find him sympathetic.

The ending scene where the four resistance members can together was pretty cool. I'm eager to learn more about Georgie and more about his past with Ryan and the early resistance movement.

Finally, the Fifth Column. As an old school V fan, it's hard for me to not see parallels between the old one and the new one. When Joshua was revealed to be part of the Fifth Column, I immediately thought "Martin!" For the newbies, he was a prominent member of the Fifth Column in the original V. I'm liking the mythology their attaching to the Fifth Column in this new series--the whispers of the mysterious John May, the history the Fifth Column has on the planet. I'm really interested to learn more about the group.

I'm not happy about the upcoming hiatus. IMDB says that it is coming back in February. I had previously heard March, so I guess February is an improvement. Still, I want it back earlier. :( I am a sad panda.

This was one of my favorite episodes yet--it was light on the gloom and doom and heavy on character development. I'm finally starting to see Camille and Scott as dynamic characters now. I like Camille's partner, though after this episode and the scenes between Young-in-Telford's-body last episode, I have to question the comfort level of these people having relations with their lovers while said lovers are in the bodies of someone else. Yikes!

Also, I wonder if the "body donors" have to sign a release or something when they are assigned to "communication stone duty." I can just imagine the training meeting: "The AC is a bit temperamental, the cafeteria serves meatloaf on Tuesdays, and once in a while, your body might be taken for a spin by a very nice group of misfits living on a ship in another galaxy. Welcome aboard!"

I find it interesting though, that the body swapping leaves psychic residue.

I'm liking TJ more and more, and I still see chemistry between her and Rush. Some of the psych evals were interesting--Volker's, for example.

I also like the little ways that the various characters are coping with life on the ship. I have to admit that when Scott was leading everyone on laps around the Destiny, I was reminded of Mitchell doing his seemingly endless laps during "Unending."

And I was loving the Flogging Molly at the beginning and the end of the episode It was the perfect song.

Not a bad episode, but not the best, either. I was not liking Declan for the majority of the episode. I know he was innocent and was trying to do the right thing, but I wanted to smack him.

Loved the interaction between Henry and the Big Guy, though.
