Robert Carlyle was fantastic this episode, and I'm liking the dynamic between Rush and Young. Part of me is really curious as to what would happen if Rush and McKay were locked in a room together. Hee. I saw a little bit of Rush/TJ, btw.
I really like Riley. I already liked him, but when he said that members of his family have never been out of the state, but he's in another galaxy and that he has no regrets... that cinched it. I can see he's going to be a favorite of mine (I always have a favorite minor player).
I'm liking Eli more and more.
I'm also liking that the writers are throwing all sorts of characters together to see how they play off each other instead of focusing on just three or four main leads.
And I like that these people are kind of screw-ups. Even Rush, who's unquestionably brilliant is hampered by his personality and his inability to trust anyone in a way that McKay, for instance, never was. McKay can rant and insult people, but in the end, he knows the value of team. Rush is pretty much certifiable, and I kind of like that.
One thing, though. Camille Wray... she should probably do something soon. We know next-to-nothing about her, and it seems like we've been given bits and pieces about everyone but her.
Telford needs a good smack. I love Lou Diamond Philips, but yeah.
Great dynamic between John and Helen. And Amanda Tapping, you break my heart. The scene between her and Ashley at the end and the scene of her sobbing after Ashley went poof were heartbreaking.
Nikola Tesla, you are a rockstar. I love the dynamic between Nikola and Henry. Of course, I pretty much love the dynamic between Nikola and everyone. I like that Nikola was a bit hesitant when Helen gave her Ashley's blood. He really does care about Helen, and it was nice to be reminded of that.
And Nikola had the best lines:
"The reason I'm asking is because I don't know. And I'm me."
"I'll be saving the world, all by myself."
"All that tally ho crap doesn't work on me."
I found it interesting that there is government awareness and sanction for the Sanctuary network. I guess it makes sense that it would be nearly impossible to hide the existence of all these abnormals from the governments of the world, but I still sort of had the impression that Helen and company were operating under-the-radar.
Hi, Hot London House Guy.
Aw, a Watson mention.
I feel bad for Will, but I didn't feel Will/Clara.
Nice Henry/Helen interaction. I love it when she goes all motherly and has a heart-to-heart with Henry.
Yay, the Big Guy is back! I was pretty certain he would be, since they hinted that he comes from an interesting culture. Speaking of which, why is the Big Guy worth a lot on the black market? *shiver* I hope this means some backstory for the Big Guy. But one thing... WHY DIDN'T WE GET A HEARTWARMING HENRY/BIGFOOT REUNION SCENE?!?! I mean, for the past two episodes, Henry was the one who was being a sad panda and fretting over "the hairy one," but we don't get so much as a huggle between them?
