Comic book movie stuff--casting spoilers and speculation
I don't really consider casting news to be a spoiler, but I'll cut it anyway. Spoilers and speculation for several movies.
As you've probably heard, Ryan Reynolds has been confirmed as Green Lantern in the forthcoming film of the same name. Now, I love Green Lantern, and I love Ryan, so the news sounds pretty good to me. I was kind of hoping Ryan would be cast as The Flash--I've been picturing him as Wally West for years--but either way... more Superhero!Ryan. Hopefully shirtless. \o/
And of course, Chris Hemsworth was cast as Thor weeks ago. I'm still not sold on that casting, though I did like him in Star Trek. Marvel has made some really solid casting choices the past few years, so I trust them on this one, as well.
Still no word on Captain America. I hope he's cast soon, because all the rumors are making me antsy. Some of the names flying around are ridiculous. Steve Rogers is a big guy. He's built like a semi-truck. We can't have some lightweight taking the role. People are still throwing around Will Smith and Leo DiCaprio. No, no, no! D:
Plus, we have to think in terms of who will have chemistry with Robert Downey, Jr., since Cap will certainly be a major part of The Avengers film, and RDJ will be repising his role as Iron Man for that.
