I love my fandoms

I'm bored.

So here I am, on your flist. :D

I watched "Vegas" again. Sheppard just gets hotter and hotter with ever passing moment, doesn't he?

You know, dexeterette has just seen the Season 2 finale of Torchwood, and was expressing her annoyance at the ending. As an active member of both the Stargate and Torchwood fandoms, I was thinking about one of the key differences in these fandoms:

When rumors of Owen's and Tosh's deaths stared hitting the internet, quite a chunk of the fandom, including myself, were spoiled, either willingly or accidentally. People were in denial for a while, and when the episode finally aired, we were all choked up and moved and even angry. But you know what occurs to me all these months later?

If Owen and Tosh had been characters on SG-1 or SGA, someone would have started a Save Our Characters movement an hour after the spoilers hit the net, and an hour after the show aired, five or so icon-makers would have churned out Save Owen and Tosh icons, and fans would have jumped into their cars to buy stamps for the letter-writing campaign and markers for the picket signs, lol. Am I right?

I love my weird, proactive fandom.
