Stargate Atlantis--Enemy at the Gate

I'm groggy and tipsy, so if I don't get this commentary done now, it won't be happening tonight.

Okay, let me get the complainy stuff out of the way first.

The episode clearly should have been two hours long so they could take their time with the story. Also, the Rodney/Keller thing at the end irritated me, as did the fact that Lorne and Zelenka weren't on the balcony with the others. Of course, that last one I can explain by just assuming they were off celebrating privately. :D

Okay. Complaining aside, they did do a lot of things right.

Watching John and Todd together was entertaining as always. "You know how to talk to me, John Sheppard." LOL!

I'm glad Caldwell and Marks were included in this.

Carson is second in the ranking to use the chair? That seems a like a bit of a stretch, as he's always been uncomfortable with it. I would have thought Lorne, Rodney, or some heretofore unmentioned person. Of course, they obviously needed Lorne and Rodney on the hive ship, so I guess it was just as easy to say Carson was next in line to fly the chair. And it was good to see our beloved doctor get to do something really cool!

Speaking of cool, I was thrilled to see Lorne used a whole bunch. I didn't think he was in this episode, so I was excited and nervous when I saw him in the credits. I was very anxious that he or Zelenka would get killed off, but they're both alive and well and could potentially come back for a movie. If tptb ever get around to announcing it.

I enjoyed seeing Carter, Walter, and Major Davis again. Seriously, though. Why has Davis not been promoted. He's been a Major for the entire freaking time in the franchise.

And it was a nice touch that Carter's ship will be named the General Hammond. RIP, Don.

Zelenka was really well used in this episode. He got a lot to do, and at no time did the writers make him sound like a screw-up or pale comparison to Rodney. Seriously, I was very happy with his scenes in this.

Heh. John's reaction to Ronon's "death" could almost make me a John/Ronon shipper. We all knew Ronon would survive, but it still worked for me. And I love it when John calls him Chewie, lol.

The Ronon/Amelia shipper in me was pretty pleased with the infirmary scene.

Okay, when I saw where they were, one of my first thoughts was, "Lorne is from the area. Wow, maybe Lorne can go see his nephews!"
