1. Do you read or write fan fiction? I do both, though real life and health sometimes wreak havoc on the writing side of things.
2. When did you first start reading/writing fan fiction? I probably started making of stories based on TV shows and books when I was 12 or so. I started reading it when I found out other people wrote it, too. That was years ago.
3. What was your first fandom? When it comes to fandoms that I was actually active in--did stuff like fic, discussion, etc... It was probably V: The Miniseries/V: The Final Battle. I used to write stories, make detailed note cards of all the episodes, collect all sorts of memorabilia. I made some of my first fandom friends through that show.
4. First ship?
Mike and Martin from V: The Miniseries
OR
Han and Leia
5. What website to you use most?
LJ
6. What do you think of Fanfiction.net? Eh... I'm not going to pretend I don't have some of my stuff there, but overall, I think it's a dumping ground for damn near everything. I prefer to read and archive fic elsewhere.
7. What fandoms have you written in? As far as stuff that is archived online: X-Men, JAG, NCIS, CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Enterprise, Stargate: SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, Firefly.
8. Pairings? Too many to list.
9. Any fandoms would you like to write in? Torchwood, Sanctuary, The 4400
10. Do reviews affect how you write in any way? I was going to say no, but to be honest, I got flamed by some asshole because he or she didn't like my pairing, and that did affect me to the point that I haven't written anything for that particular fandom since. They weren't critiquing my story, and they probably never read it, but the pettiness and wank that accompanies some fandoms just makes proves that my cynicism is often justified. But before that? No.
11. Do you use a beta? Not generally. I've asked for betas before, especially when I was uncertain about the character's voice or something, but I usually can't find anyone willing to do it.
12. What ratings do you read/write? R and below. I'm not comfortable writing NC-17, partially because I don't want my students or relatives to stumble across it. Even locked, there's always that possibility.
13. What warnings have you used on your fiction/read? I think my favorite warning was "just out of the dryer fluffy." That was on one of my fics.
14. Do you have any squicks? Yeah, plenty of them. Mpreg is probably the biggest.
15. Do you role-play online? If so, what? No.
16. Have you ever stolen something from another person's work? No.
17. Favorite fandom to write/read? To write and read, probably SGA. I also quite like to write Firefly, because Mal's voice is an incredible lot of fun.
18. Favorite pairing? Too many to list. Seriously, I'm a chronic multi-shipper. Picking an over-arching OTP is something I can't do.
19. Favorite writer/writers? I'm not going to point anyone out, because I'll inevitably forget someone, and that will lead to hard feelings.
20. How long should a chapter be? I don't believe in setting a length, because you run the risk of constricting the story to fit the length, and that's unhealthy for your story.
21. Do you write/read drabbles? Sure.
22. Any fandoms you avoid? Ones I'm not involved in, lol.
23. Pairings you avoid? Jack/Gwen, Jack/Sam, Ten/Rose, Helen/Will, Remus/Tonks
24. Warnings you avoid? Anything squicky. It depends. Also, I avoid overuse of OC, Mary Sues, and badfic.
25. Do the number of reviews tell how good a story is? No, that's asinine. First of all, some pairings aren't as popular as others, and some writers haven't gotten the PR needed to attract readers. Especially in the bigger fandoms. There's just so much fic out there that you can't possibly read it all. Also, if you cruise over to ff.net, you'll find fics with LOADS of reviews, but some of them are just horrendous. Even in my own fics, I've had ones I wasn't as pleased with get loads of reviews, but one I was really proud of got way fewer. So no, scads of reviews mean little.
26. What do you think of Mary Sues? Yuck.
27. Have you ever flamed someone? No, I think it's petty and juvenile to flame someone.
28. Have you ever been flamed? Yes, I was flamed by a Jack/Sam shipper once, because I was writing a pairing they didn't like. As I said earlier, that petty and juvenile attack made me want to stop writing for SG-1, because I've noticed that over the years, the fandom has changed. For crying out loud. If I write a pairing you don't like, don't fucking read it.
