a family affair

this year i had more than just a mooncake festival. i had the priviledge to attend a wedding. it was my cousin genevieve's wedding. she was a busy bride today and i didn't manage to talk to her accept to give her well-wishes.

traditional chinese wedding / teaceremony
i started my day with the usual morning 9am mass with mom and godma (known as my aunt as well). right after that we went over to the bride's house at shun fu avenue, pretty nearby. all of us thought we were too late to catch the entire action of the groom coming over to pick the bride usually done in a traditional chinese wedding but we were early and manage to catch the entire scene of the "sisters" who had many tricks up their sleeves in preventing the groom from having easy access to kiss the bride. while waiting for the bride to be back for the tea ceremony, we had buffet lunch and mango pudding for dessert. the pudding had a powedery texture and i didn't really like it to be frank. next on, the tea ceremony was performed with the bride changing into the traditional red chinese wedding outfit, it seemed really thick and i reckon she was feeling rather uncomfortable in it. even i was sweating by just wearing a tube dress. mom had the honour of being served tea, red dates tea which was very sweet. i think it's supposed to wish the newly-weds tian tian mi mi throughout their marriage as husband and wife.

wedding dinner
i enjoyed dinner the most cos its dress up time for most of the girls. aunts, momsie and me went to the salon to do up our tresses. pretty curls, chignon buns and twisted pigtails were some of the hairstyle choices for that night. i had my hair twisted and pined up with bobby pins i was almost gonna say booby pins. the dinner was extravagant, with a 6-star hotel, ritz-carlton, as the venue to hold the wedding. it was held in the grand ballroom. people were everywhere looking so fine with servings of cocktails & mocktails. the dinner, although an 8 course meal wasnt exactly that exquisite for a 6 star hotel. i was expecting crab, or lobstar of some sort. instead it was the usual steamed garoupa, braised duck, prawn salad and fred rice even. the dessert was just tang yuan. okay, now i sound like a critic. alright, its supposed to be a happy event...
so yes! yum seng and cheers to their happy marriage!
