Alex awoke the following morning with strong arms wrapped around him. He was momentarily confused before the previous day flooded into his memory. Then he realized that those arms belonged to Jack, the love of his life. Trying to ignore the throbbing pain in his ass, he snuggled into Jack’s chest, breathing in the distinct scent with a small grin on his face.

Jack was awakened by Alex’s slight movement, and he also attempted to nestle even closer to the younger man, burying his nose into his hair.

Alex was so comfortable right now, he never wanted to move. But a nagging feeling in his brain slowly brought him closer and closer to full wakefulness. Pretty soon, he was completely awake and pressed against Jack. Despite the protest of every muscle in his body, he gently pushed the elder away and sat up, rubbing the back of his head. He yawned hugely and rubbed his eyes, searching for a piece of clothing he could use to cover up his naked body.

“Get your sweet ass back here,” came a grumble behind him.

Alex smiled to himself, turned around, and kissed his boyfriend’s warm cheek. “I have to get back to work, love.”
“Oh no you don’t,” he muttered, still with his eyes closed. “Stay and cuddle with me, dammit.”

The younger lay down on his stomach and propped himself up his elbows. “As much as I’d love to, I have a little girl to teach, your niece, to be exact. And I’m being paid to do this. By you.”

“As your employer, I demand you to stay with me.”

“No,” he giggled, pressing his nose against Jack’s. He heaved himself up and began the search for his shirt that was discarded the night before. He finally found it, but was disgusted to find that it was the same shirt that Jack had used to wipe them both off. “Yuck, Jack. Did you have to use my shirt to wipe your nasty come?”

“Hey,” he said opening his eyes and sitting up. “Some of it’s yours too.”

“Ugh, well, now I need a shirt. Do you have one I could borrow?”

“Yeah,” he pointed to his closet with one hand and rubbed his eyes with his other. “Look in there. Pick any you want.”

Alex stood up and rummaged through the dresser, trying to find something that wasn’t too flashy. He found a simple grey shirt at the bottom and bent to pick it up. “Stop staring at my ass,” he scolded.

“Psh, it’s a great ass,” Jack scoffed.

Alex pulled on the shirt and went to find his pants, which, luckily, were not stained. “Mind if I borrow some underwear too?”

“Sure. Bottom drawer.”

“Thanks,” he mumbled. Opening the drawer, he pulled out the first pair he saw and put that on. Then he slid on his pants. “Oh,” he added, settling back in with his boyfriend. “Can we tell anyone about us?”

“Hm,” he thought, taking Alex’s hands into his own. “Do you want to tell anybody?”

“I wanted to tell Cassadee. She knows that I love you and I want to tell her that we’re together now.”

“And she wasn’t too freaked about the fact that you’re in love with a man?”

“She was completely fine with it.”

“You can tell her,” he said, pressing his lips to Alex’s cheek. “Anybody else? Rian, Maria, Zack?”

“I’ll keep it at just Cassadee. I think that Zack knows, though.”

“Why is that?”

“Yesterday, when we just got back inside from the storm, right after we kissed, I looked up and saw Zack watching with an, almost, appalled face.” He paused and looked right into Jack’s worried face. “Don’t worry,” he added, kissing his cheek. “I’ll talk to him about it so you don’t have to. I know you’re a little apprehensive about us being together; I don’t want you to be under even more stress.”

He nodded, swallowing thickly. “Thank you. I-I know I should be so certain about us being together, and I am, for the most part, but…I don’t know. Something isn’t exactly wrong about this, because I love you so much, but…” he trailed off, eyes distant. “I can’t explain it.”

“I know what you mean,” Alex said. “This is almost, forbidden and dangerous. But that makes me want it so much more.”

“I love you, Alex.”

“I love you too, Jack,” he mumbled, right before Jack kissed him. “I’m gonna get going now. When can I see you again?”

“Tonight? We can meet here again, just like old times, only in my room and not in my study.”

“It’s a date,” he declared, poking Jack’s cheek. He bent to pick up his dirty clothing. “Bye, love!” He called, moving towards the door. “I’ll see you tonight!” He blew Jack a kiss before shutting the door and going back to his own room. When he got there, he tossed his filthy clothes into a corner. Before he left to go downstairs, he checked his reflection. He was surprised to see a stupid smile plastered to his face. ‘I guess that’s the effect Jack has on me,’ he thought, ruffling his hair. He winked to himself before starting back out the door. When he last had this much self-confidence, he couldn’t remember, but he missed it.

His good mood was definitely noticed by Cassadee who was sitting in the kitchen reading a newspaper with Maria. “Good morning, Alex.” She greeted him.

“Good morning, Alex,” Maria repeated.

“Good morning, Cassadee. Good morning, Maria.”

“Oh, Alex, Wendy is sick today. It’s just the cold, but I told her she could take a break from classes. I hope that’s fine with you. Looks like you have the day off today.”

“I hope she gets better then.” Now he could spend the whole day with his love. It was too perfect. Then he remembered that he had to tell Cass the news. “Can I have a word with you, Cass? Alone?”

“Yeah, sure,” she answered. “I’ll be back in a moment,” she said to the woman beside her. She rose from her chair and followed Alex out the door. “What’s up?” She asked once they were out of earshot.

“Guess what happened yesterday.”

“Oh, I don’t know. Did you see a unicorn?”

“I wish,” he said wistfully. “That’s not it. Mr. Barakat said he loved me yesterday.”

“No,” she exclaimed. “Really? Alex, that’s amazing. What did you say?”

“I confessed my love for him.”

“That’s wonderful! Are you two together now? Like, boyfriend and girl-er, boyfriend?”

“Yes.”

She hugged him. “I’m so happy for you two!”

“Can you please, not tell anyone else? This is still a very new thing for both Jack and I.”

“Of course I’ll keep my mouth shut. Lucky you, I’m not super religious. I can’t say that for everybody else in the house though.”

“I know. Thank you.”

“Hm, no problem” she hummed. “Are you hungry? I could get you something,” she took him by the arm and led him back into the kitchen. “Bread, coffee, a muffin?”

“Uh, not really. Just coffee is all right with me.”

Cassadee walked over to the counter, poured him a cup, and handed it to him. He drowned it in one gulp while she gave him a disapproving look. He returned with a sly smile before giving her a quick hug. “See ya!” He called as he dashed out the door.

He dashed back to Jack’s room. Walking down a hall, he spotted the one person he least wanted to see.

“Hi, Zack,” he greeted awkwardly.

Instead of responding, the other man took one glance at him and hurried away.

Confused, he shook his head. “Forget about it,” he mumbled to himself as he picked up the pace to the room that contained his love.

When he got there, he quietly opened the door. If he was sleeping, he wouldn’t want to wake him up.

The door opened to reveal a slumbering man in his bed, curled underneath the covers. Alex almost verbally “awwwed,” from the sight, but instead suppressed a giggle and quietly shut the door behind him. He padded over to the bed and straddled Jack. He bent over and pressed light kisses onto his neck.

Jack, being a light sleeper, was immediately awoken. “Ah, what…” then he saw Alex smirking down on him. “Alex! What are you doing here?”

“Well, it turns out that your niece is ill today, so we both have the day off. What do you want to do?”

“Let me get dressed first,” he said, lightly pushing the younger off him. He quickly put on the first pieces of clothing that he got his hands on and sat with Alex back on the bed. He took the younger into his arms. “Looks like we have the whole day to ourselves, eh?” Jack hummed, leaning in.

“Yes,” Alex giggled, accepting a kiss. “No sex, though. My ass is sore.”

“Damn,” he grumbled. “I’m too good at this.”

“Hey no fair. I bet you’ve slept with lots of other people.”

“How would you know?”

“Well, you’re Jack Barakat. I’m assuming you have.”

“You’re not repulsed that I’ve fucked people other than you?”

“Well, I am a little.” He pouted. “Why did you do it, though?”

Jack sighed. “You’ve only been in my life for almost a year. I’ve been searching for someone to love for much, much longer than that. To be honest, I was not always away from Thornfield for ‘business.’ In reality, I’ve was searching the continent for that one girl that I would be hopelessly in love with. The search had brought me many beautiful women, but none had the qualities I was looking for. Most were shallow and stupid. Others were okay, but not ones I would consider spending my life with. And of course, being a man, I sometimes feel the need to have sex, and those women happen to be there. I couldn’t help myself. Desperate for someone, I began looking in very unlikely places, to no avail. I began to give up all hope that I would ever find her. Yes, I’ve slept with prostitutes, and I’m not proud of it. I realized only too soon that paying someone to love you wasn’t the same as actually having someone love you, and for you to return the feeling. I got drunk a lot, and slept around a lot. I was depressed; I had nothing and no one to live for. Multiple times I’ve thought about suicide, and some times I’ve attempted it, and failed. On one particularly bad run, I decided to return home for a rest. That’s when I met you,” he smiled and kissed Alex’s forehead. “You were the most peculiar, fascinating, and beautiful person I have ever met. I loved you from the start. Finally, I knew what was missing, and I was searching in all the wrong places for it. The irony was that I was looking high and low for that person, while you literally showed up on my doorstep. It wasn’t a woman I needed, but the opposite. I love you, Alex.”

Alex was speechless. He felt a tear slip from his eye, but Jack wiped it away with his thumb. “I-I love you too, Jack. I’m sorry for being such a plain and boring person, because I was never looking for someone to fall in love with; it just happened. While you…you were seeking everywhere for someone. You deserve more than me.”

“I disagree. You’re the opposite of boring. You’re lively and charming and just completely and utterly perfect. And if we’re together long enough, I hope you’ll see yourself the way I see you.”

A/N: Hey guys! So yeah, cheesy chapter, but you'll like it. I've been going through a lot of stuff lately, most of it self-harm related. Eh, but that doesn't matter to you.

I swear, being on break is so boring. Well, maybe if I had friends it wouldn't be, but being at home 24/7 does get a little boring. And homework? I'm trying to draw a comic but I have limited drawing abilities. Srsly.

But hey, sad music until this is over, right? Then I can go back to the hellhole that is school. I can't win.
