I haven't been around for a while. Life has made visiting this sand pit difficult. So, why the hello today?
Unfortunately, not with good news. The war in Afghanistan has claimed a lot of lives and caused a lot of casualties. Last week, it took a member of my family. A vibrant young man of 30, blown up in a supposedly indestructible tank! His wife is expecting their first child in June.
I can only pray that as few young men as possible suffer in this war before they are brought home next year. Sav gave his life bravely for his country. His wife and child can be proud of him, but first, this poor devastated young woman has to mourn, bring her child into this world alone and without a father....then when the baby is older she can explain how brave and courageous his/her dad was. I just wish she could explain this with her husband at her side. This family's life dramatically and completely changed direction in a few minutes.....the time it took a bomb to explode.
A lot of tears have been shed and will be shed. A birth coming up amidst joy for the new baby but such sorrow that a dad will not share it.
bad news,
afghanistan
