We met with the doctor this afternoon, and he says he says it's a 95% chance of recurrence of my breast cancer. We're in the process of scheduling a biopsy to confirm--hopefully Friday, but probably next Tuesday. (Sadly, the 95% seemed like a concession -- when he mentioned the biopsy, he said, "you could go ahead and get a port put in while you're there...)
The cancer appears to be basically in three areas: lungs, one adrenal gland, and a lymph node in my throat. CT scans are fascinating, but extremely hard to read. Bone scans are easier, as the hot spots are much clearer in one way -- you can see 'hot' spots, but less so, in that they didn't seem at all clear what the hot spots were. Yay modern medicine.
Thanks so much to everyone who sent kind thoughts and hugs these last few days; you really made it easier to get through the uncertainty.
(And dammit -- I'm tired of the lack of fannish content! I don't have time to do the recs they deserve, but if you're looking for something to read, check out my delicious page -- I have read some good shit recently --
