More "Tudors!" (And More!)

Aug 26, 2008 01:40

Damn is that one ugly baby! :p Sorry Eliz, but yeah….

Hmm there’s Mary Boleyn, I wonder where HER kids are?  Or did they not make the cut of existence on the show? I guess they must not have, since as I remember now in the last epp she said he was impotent, and she didn’t have kids with Henry in this one….so will Stafford sire her kids?

Ludlow again-woot, more Mary! :D

Aww, she’s speaking with Chapuys, reminds me of all their scenes together in Mary, Bloody Mary! (But eww, what an awful hat she’s wearing!)  Too bad they didn’t let Mary be present at Elizabeth’s birth and christening as she would have been-more opportunities for maximum angst ignored!

Aww, so sad how she thinks he’ll relent one day….when he totally will not! :-(

Yeah More, stick it to the man! :p  Though really, you are not showing much sense again-it seems OOC!Naive!More has returned….why not just plead ill health? (“I got better!”)

Oh boy, a nekkid (or at least shirtless) Mark Smeaton in a dark room, when he has already declared himself to be gay….I sense more random gay!sex-what is it with the musicians on this show? :p (And why would he have his door open?!)

Yay, more sexy Brandon! :D But wtf, how does he have a son that old already?! :s

Again, why didn’t we have the scene where Brandon appears to demand Mary’s old christening gown for Elizabeth from Catherine?!  Another trufax angst-filled opportunity wasted…really, there was enough angst and drama there, and you just replace it with added crap! *rolleyes*

YES! I’m so glad they for ONCE included Mary being forced to wait on Elizabeth in one of these films, that is one of the angstiest moments of all, and it’s so often ignored-it’s worth all the other omissions!  Though poor Mary, Henry is so cruel and harsh here…:(

Mary already knows who you are Lady Margaret Bryant, you were HER governess too when she was a baby! *rolleyes* (Come on Showtime, aren’t you supposed to be all about the angst?!  Why do you keep passing it up?!)

Aww, poor Mary! :(  Though again, this is just the kind of thing I have been waiting to see dramatized since I read Mary, Bloody Mary and became interested in the Tudor royal family, so I’m thrilled! This is what I MOST wanted to see happen on the show, be included in this season, and it actually is being included! :D

Poor More….:(  And this More is so hot too….(which I only really appreciated by the end of last season!)

Woot, Peter O’Toole! :D (I swear, he’s so awesome that he improves any scene he’s in!)

“Who knows, one day this little girl may preside over empires!”
Oh brother, I hate it when they stick these stupid, “oooh, aren’t we clever foreshadowers!” statements in about Elizabeth as a child in films-no one would have been thinking that at the time-or certainly not Henry, who expected to have a son to succeed him! *rolleyes*

I’m afraid Shelton are the ones in charge of Eliz’s household and care at Harfield-not yoru ladies in waiting!

Oh boy, Anne wishes to say something to the Lady Mary?  This ought to be good….(They better not make Anne too nice though in their attempts to portray her sympathetically, b/c she sure as hell wasn’t nice to Mary-and angst/drama is the key, remember guys?!)

Blech, they have her do her overture to Mary in person so it looks like a nice personal thing, rather than a political one….if they’re going to include that exchange I do hope they include Anne’s threats to poison Mary or marry her off to an undersirable, etc, to be fair and show all sides….

Though I do love seeing Mary totally sic burn Anne here-hell yeah! :p (I just wish I could remember the exact quote to have put in the cut description.....)

Heh, I love it when More uses Henry’s own words to present his opinion! ;)  Though he did it less subtly here than in AMFAS.

Man, I wonder when More is going to get the chop?  I hope not for at least another episode, I don’t want to see him go yet! :(

But she would NOT wage a war against you Henry, you know her better than that….she refused to create civil war in England!

Awww, so sad seeing More say goodbye! :(  I hope they give him a full trial scene like in AMFAS…..why didn’t he hug the other kids/grandkids? What about his beloved Meg?

Argh, he’s too hot to die! *cries

Anne you fool, you think Henry will want to sleep with someone as unattractive as your cousin?  I mean, he should, but being Henry….
Hey, what happened to the big chain of office that More always wore even before he actually held an office, and after he turned in his chancellor chain? *rolleyes* (Amazing music here though!)
Dude, Cramner is even MORE annoying in this scene!  I may need to watch some Bernard Hepton clips to soothe me after this….

And I so wish he had said the line about “when I have gone to hell for not following my conscience, will you keep me company” in response to the “everyone else is doing it!” statement…..but still, I LOVE YOU MORE!  Even if this More was not as great as the unparalleled Paul Scoefield (RIP!), the definitive Sir Thomas More!

Aw, poor More….:(

All in all another EXCELLENT episode-again, this season is SO much better than season 1, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every episode!  Especially at seeing some scenes from one of my favorite novels, Mary. Bloody Mary, practically re-enacted here! :D 5/5!

*rewatches Mary scenes*

To close, I’ll excerpt one of my favorite exchanges in the classic movie, “A Man For All Seasons”:

Cromwell: Yet how can this be? Because this silence betokened, nay, this silence was, not silence at all, but most eloquent denial!
Sir Thomas More: Not so. Not so, Master Secretary. The maxim is "Qui tacet consentiret": the maxim of the law is "Silence gives consent". If therefore you wish to construe what my silence betokened, you must construe that I consented, not that I denied.
Cromwell: Is that in fact what the world construes from it? Do you pretend that is what you wish the world to construe from it?
Sir Thomas More: The world must construe according to its wits; this court must construe according to the law.

Sir Thomas More rocks my socks….:D
