This past Sunday night/early Monday morning I finished watching BSG for the first time, almost two weeks after I began it! I am still filled with many thoughts and feels right now that I need to express. I'm glad I finished during a 3-day weekend so that I had time to finish watching and then have a day after to ~process~ it all, and explore fandom

First off, that icon! <333 She looks so happy and into it, that smiiileee! One of the rare glimpses of them as a normal-ish couple...
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT PROMO SHOT. It used to be my desktop wallpaper. The way he's clinging to her, guh.
Yesss exactly, I love the way they are interlocked, clinging to each other, just as they are on the show on a metaphorical and literal level (most of the time in the early seasons at least). And the differences in the grips, with hers much more proprietary and dominant, as appropriate...this show has such good promo shots! (It's nice when you get free official fanart, more or less...:p)
I feel like I need to meta one of these days about Baltar's arc in S4, because I actually enjoy the cult stuff a lot, although his role in it is kind of uneven and I understand why people feel it was wasted time.
I'd be interested in reading that! (Especially since I just read in the comments to one of your video recs that you were really upset about the way he just set his guilt aside/decided he was absolved in his convo with Roslin, which I feel was part of his cult arc). I mean, I liked the cult stuff at first, finding it amusing and such (and I always liked it when people realized he might be on to something at times--the river thing, the angels conversation with Kara), but then as we NEVER saw him interacting with either Caprica or Head!Six and some of the stuff he was saying, and the handing out food storyline towards the end...I felt he could have been used in so many other ways, better integrated into the Opera House Vision thing (like you'd think he'd be thinking, "Hmm, wait, I had a vision with Hera in the Opera House too...")...I remember wondering if he had happened to walk by Hera if she might instinctively run to him the way she had Natalie (and seems to be connected to the Sixes). When he said, "well obviously I'm a protector" in the scene where Roslin tries to clarify her vision from the hybrid, I was thinking, "Damn straight you are! Before Roslin decided to be too," and would have loved that to be brought up (like the way he called her out on her on political use of religion in the past during the mutiny arc)--I wonder, does Roslin or Sharon or Helo know Gaius was the one who found Hera on New Caprica? IDK, I think about this kind of stuff, and I was disappointed almost none of this (or for instance Sam mentioning Caprica saving him--did he realize she was the one?) came up ever...I think there was a good degree of potential never realized in the last two seasons.
In general I think the later seasons of the show are vastly underrated, but that may be because I care about Baltar + Cylons + Gaeta + Tighs, and everything else on the show was, I dunno, a bonus.
I agree though that seasons 3 and 4 aren't as awful as many seem to say--I did really love Gaius' arc in season 3 (basestar! is he a cylon?! sudden major background reveals and character insights!), even though sometimes I kind of missed the "good old days" of him as Mr. Scientist-cum-Politician (I was actually squeeing a bit when we did see him donning ye olde lab coat and running scientific tests the few times in season 4!) and his glasses and tweed look. (The problem with s3 for me though was that I was super bored much of the time that Gaius was not on screen...).
