Oh I found the werewolf thing boring as well, but not the other plotlines in the first 2 epps...

Oh, it's about Uther then. Hm. I can't do that. It's a personal thing from bad personal real life experience and has nothing to do with the show, I guess, but it still clouds my judgement insofar as I really cannot watch couples with a big age difference or anything that is teacher/pupil, father/daughter, uncle/niece... and she is his ward. I mean okay, Morgana is not exactly helpless and perhaps it would be hard to victimize her in that context but I would still feel that way. I loved ArMor so much in season 1, I really didn't want to get my heart broken.

Well I can understand that, this is the first such pairing for me, though part of it is after I realized that despite the age gap, he often treats her more like an equal or like a wife than someone below him--there are many such moments, like him talking with her about Arthur as if she wasn't Arthur's peer rather than his, etc. And for me it's mainly their angsty, messy, co-dependent relationship, which I enjoy regardless of whether it's actually romantic or not (even though I like to think it is). The main thing is that Morgana goes darkside because she is so afraid of losing his love if he ever found out she had magic, thinking he wouldn't love her anymore (so she decides to just hate him so that it wouldn't matter to her if he loves her or not), and he loves her despite it all, and after her betrayal is basically a shell of his former self rn as the season opened.

Re: Chuck - I hated him from episode one. No matter if there ultimately was no intercourse but he's a rapist forcing himself on Jenny and Serena, I was just appalled. Also by how they tried to redeem himself. (Attempted) Rape is just something I cannot stomach. Plus I liked Blair/Nate especially in season 2 and was disappointed when the writers broke them up again with a super lame excuse in my eyes. So that's how I saw it. Not that everyone has to. ;)

Eh, I hated Chuck at first too, but they definitely toned him down after that first epp (at first), and I kind of saw it as like Arthur in 1x01--how they went overboard making him douchey and horrible, then dialed it back a bit, as if they were still trying to suss out the character. Though at least they did bring it up again later, if it were Merlin you'd better believe they'd never remember that happened! :p i think Chuck did mature and grow a lot (for instance I love the scenes when he was looking out for Jenny like a big brother, having come kind of full circle there, before the writers fucked it up), and I enjoyed his character when he did, BUT THEN THEY KEPT REGRESSING HIM AND MAKING HIM THE ABSOLUTE WORST, so...:/

And heh, sorry but Nate is just the biggest manwhore ever who has been with pretty much every woman on the show besides Lily and Georgina, and they ALWAYS have a lame excuse most of the time for breaking up his ships! ;) Look at Vanessa in the end of s1, like they just randomly split, just so he could do the Katherine thing and then want to get back with Vanessa? *rolleyes*

Just two things real quick before I have to go to uni but... I have to say them. :)

(1) Re: Chuck. Okay, so Arthur was a pompous ass in episode one. But he wasn't an almost rapist. I am very sensible on that subject for personal reasons. Okay, so I heard he apologized to Jenny later for his behaviour. Fine. Perhaps he really was repentant. But rape or attempted rape is still that. And people like that are just the lowest scum ever to me. I work on forgiveness every day but it's nothing I can see myself achieving as it is something that you cannot forget. I understand it's "just" TV but I am upset about the message it sends to young women: Chuck is a terrible person and violated many people and just because he has his man-pain that doesn't make things okay and you can't sell him as prince charming all of a sudden. That really really upset me.

(2) As for Nate - I haven't watched past the Central Park Scene in season 2. Frankly I don't care about the show. I read the books and there Nate/Blair were the couple that stood out. In season 2 it felt like that for the first time too - because Blair understood what he was going through once he let her in and they were able to be friends. And okay, perhaps I'm old but - I think it's actually a mature thing when you are in a relationship that should work, you have to be friends and a team. They were that often in the books and they were that in parts of season 2. And then they fucked it all up over a dress that Chuck sent her and made her a total puppet again. that really pissed me off.

(3) As for what you said about Uther and Morgana. I understand where you are coming from better now. I'm not watching the show... but I feel that even with everything you said, it could still be interpreted as a father/daughter relationship and that would still be beautiful. I think that would be something I could get behind.

Oh gosh... so late... have to run but I really needed to anser that.

Sorry this reply is late, thanks for answering though! :) I understand how it can be, when you just HAVE to reply to something...

1) Ah, well I can definitely understand having a stronger reaction if you have some personal reasons...:( I mean, I'm not saying he was ever Prince Charming, I do think he got better/improved from that self (I believe people can change), but then the writers flushed it all to hell...though he's never raped/attempted it again. (That's what I mean, like, I feel like they might have backpedaled on the rape thing with his character, deciding they didn't want him to be that terrible, because it's not a habit he ever does again). No denying he is a scummy character though, and it does annoy me that they keep giving him so many chances they didn't give to say, Vanessa...

2) I know Nate/Blair were the couple of the books, though the show is very different (and I don't think that's all a bad thing--I think they realized early on that Nate/Blair didn't have much chemistry with who they cast, and I think it's better for them to not force it). And that's why I like Dan/Blair so much, they are good friends now, and I want them to be something more!

As for what you said about Uther and Morgana. I understand where you are coming from better now. Yeah, as I said, what gets me with them is the messy angsty co-dependence and mutual need for love, yet insecurity about each other, which doesn't need to involve romance necessarily.

Inconsistant writing of characters is just so annoying. I mean I get that there are several writers working on one show and that they even might change from season to season but really, there should be someone keeping track of how they defined the character so that they can stick with it. I liked Vanessa but I didn't really understand why she was there... She didn't seem to have a purpose.

I think they realized early on that Nate/Blair didn't have much chemistry with who they cast,

Ah, we have to agree to disagree on that one.

Additionally, what I didn't get to say this morning because of all my time management issues.

Of course Nate is a slut or written as one. I never said he wasn't. Personally I feel like the writers never knew what to do with him. So no, I don't think he's the ideal boyfriend by any means but by the same token he doesn't force himself on people (at least not in the few episodes that I have seen.).

Lol when I said Nate was a manwhore, I just meant that he was terribly inconsistent in his affections, so it didn't seem weird for him and Blair to split ways, after he had already fallen for no less than THREE other women that season (though switching off back and forth) before he even got to getting back with Blair, lol...;) He moves around a lot romantically, in other words, that's just how he is.

Blair, on the other hand, has been a lot more consistent romantically, more or less. It was one of the issues with Chuck/Blair (even putting aside the other Chuck issues), that he kept falling for other women during their off-periods, but she kept pining over him, which was unfair to her and ridiculous...
