I know I'm a bit late to the game (this weekend was really busy with the National Book Festival going on Sat/Sun--more on that later), but I have to take a moment to talk about how effing AMAZING that Supernatural s7 premiere was, and how much it fulfilled almost all my dreams and more....<3__<3
So first off, REMEMBER THAT TIME SAM SAVED CAS WITH THE POWER OF LOVE?!?! :DDD ♥
This is my new refrain/catchphrase I think, lol...:p I'm just on such a *~SASSY~* high right now, this whole episode just slayed and delighted me and made me squee and adsjklfh sooo hard, I can't even...it's still making me do so! ;) Let's just say I'm one happy Sassiteer, and that all the heartbreak of what went down between Cas and Sam in the finale has been healed, BECAUSE IN SPITE OF EVERYTHING, SAM STILL LOVED AND BELIEVED IN CAS AND TRIED TO REACH OUT TO HIM AND IT WORKED! The whole prayer scene just...gah, I love you so much Sam, this episode really confirmed my new allegiance as a Sam!girl. :)
"Hey Castiel. Maybe this is pointless...look, I don’t know if any part of you even cares, but uh, I still think you’re one of us. Deep down and way way way of the reservation. But...look we still have till dawn to stop this. Let us help. Please." *sobs*
I mean, here I'd been fantasizing about Sam playing the Xander to Cas's Dark!Willow and saving him, AND THEN IT ACTUALLY PRETTY MUCH HAPPENED!! :D \o/ I still can't believe you, thank you Sera for fulfilling my wildest dreams on that front...I mean, gah, this scene:
After all the stuff last season, especially at the end of s6, it was so nice to see Cas responding to Sam's prayer. :) I read this on Tumblr and I thought it was really beautiful and well said:
Castiel might never have been able to fully come back to himself and humble himself enough to do this if Sam hadn’t given him someone to return to, if he hadn’t heard Sam’s call and been able to cling to that---Sam’s voice called him home. It’s so beautiful that I can’t stand it.
AND THEN THIS SCENE THAT MADE ME REALLY EXPLODE:
I'll be right beside you...
Sam still didn't give Cas that hug, but this was close enough...;) I love the way Cas's eyes just follow Sam as he leaves, like "Don't leave meeee," he looks so helpless and pathetic here...:(
Even in the beginning when Cas was Godstiel, I loved how Sam was still trying to reach out to Cas and looked so hurt when Cas was all "I HAVE NOTHING MORE TO SAY TO YOU, YOU TOTALLY HURT MY FEELINGS WHEN YOU STABBED ME IN THE BACK! *sniff*" *pets Sam* And I loved even more that Sam EXPLICITLY mentioned the connection/parallels between his arc in s4 and Cas' in s6 that I've wanted to see addressed on the show since 6x20, I really hope though that Real!Cas and Sam still have a chance at a heart-to-heart about this subject later in the season...Cas also still needs to apologize directly to Sam for the wall thing anyway!
When I was driving back home after seeing the epp I heard "Don't Stop Believing" on the radio and of course though of Sam, since he didn't stop believing...NEW THEME SONG
Because yes, Real!Cas is DEFINITELY still in there (don't stop believing!), I refuse to believe otherwise, and it's just a matter of how long we'll have with him in the end. *crosses fingers* This was definitely a stressful episode on that front I will say, I remembered half-way through the episode that I had forgotten to change my default icon to the Cas Prayer Circle one, and promptly got my phone out to make the change, since I am superstitious like that...:p I was watching the episode with
unstoppablei and
raygunronica (the latter of whom I met for the first time! We all ate pizza in honor of death and I bought a (pumpkin) pie in honor of Dean, it was a party! :D I even wore my trenchcoat that day in honor of Cas and the Samulet I picked up at BosCon in honor of Sam, so all the bases were covered, lol), and
unstoppablei and I were all "NOOOO CASSSS NOOOOO BB! YOUR FAAAACE NOOOO OMGGGGG AHHHH!" a lot of the time, especially at the end...:p Oh the writers playing with our emotions.
I have to say, I was REALLY surprised they finished up this Godstiel business so quickly, I thought Cas would be de-souled next epp, but then I didn't see the Leviathan twist coming...it was definitely SO good to see Real!Cas again, and feeling remorse and apologizing and such, however briefly, I KNEW this would happen, like Sam here I had faith...even if I am kind of worried about the Leviathan thing. BUT Leviacas is pretty hilarious/awesome too, you could tell Misha was having a ball there and playing at least 75% himself, lol, this expression was my favorite/the best new gif:
I am going to enjoy Crazy!Misha for the time being, I think he has potential and could be very funny...though will be lighting a candle for Real!Cas too, so to speak! BUT I'm just really glad that it's not actually CAS who will be the Big Bad this season, this is much better...
So much else though, how about the fact that freaking MARKSHA is back and playing the best mind games ever?! :D I had seen the tidbit on Twitter about him filming for s7, but I had no idea he'd be major enough that he'd even be in multiple episodes, and gah so far this storyline looks awesome...poor Sam, always having the most horrible hallucinations! :/ But man have I missed Lucifer, and Marksha, so I enjoyed his scenes to the max and can't wait for next week. :D The other Mark, Mark Sheppard (I was squeeing so hard when I saw both their names in the opening credits!), was equally fabulous as always, seriously, I wish he could live forever, because he always has the best lines and is too funny and awesome. "You do want to conspire, yes?" NEVER CHANGE, BB! And then Death being a BAMF and loving his greasy food as always, Dean knows him so well in that regard at least, even though I can't believe he tried to bind Death given that asking nicely has always worked before, and knowing how much Death hates that...(plus you know, how last time the binding took a whole town of dead people to do, but oh well it wouldn't be the first time SN had a plot hole). Basically this episode was chock full of awesome characters/guest stars, ON TOP of everything else, contributing to how full of win the episode was overall!
Oh and Cas smiting the Westboro Church and Fake!Michele Bachmann was pretty hilarious/awesome, not to mention that stained glass window...in all Godstiel wasn't sooo bad! :p I did feel bad for him though when he was talking about his Daddy issues (lol, this show) all "Why won't they understaaaaaand meeee I'm trying to be good I aaammmmm", oh bb....*pats*
ANYWAY, I am SO excited for the rest of season 7, haters gonna hate! And even better, I'm seeing a lot of positive reactions and excitement in fandom from other people, including a lot of s6 haters/skeptics, which makes my heart even gladder. In short, EVERYTHING IS SASSY BEAUTIFUL AND EVERYTHING HURTS! And I think that
(Oh and
this recap of the epp is really hilarious and the best! :p)
I need to rewatch this episode again, as well as catch up on TVD, DW, and Downton Abbey, since I missed all of those....the last week of Hellatus this past week was really hellishly busy, as I'll explain in another post later, but the short of it is that I got really behind on comments and posts, but I am trying to catch up!
