Sure I watched TV before, but never with such passion or addiction, and never with an accompanying involvement in fandom. I first caught glimpses of it during season 7 (and it's really funny remembering my reactions then, when I didn't know what was going on much of the time), but then I went back and marathoned it from the beginning (the first time I had done something like that) thanks to the wonderful (and now long gone) Hollywood Video, which had seasons 1-5 of BTVS complete, and for so cheap to rent. I really raced through it, and I can remember for instance watching 12 episodes of season 2 in one epic weekend with a visiting friend who I sucked into the show alongside me...(the first of many times I'd do such a thing).
It was also as I said the first TV show that had me going online seeking out websites and fandom for it. I ended up spoiling myself a lot this way, reading stuff before I had seen the epps, but I also ended up discovering Buffyforums (BF), which is still one of my favorite internet hangouts (even though I don't really talk about BTVS there much anymore), and the source of many good online friends. BF then not only led me to LJ, but also got me to watch so many other TV shows, and the rest is history...;) But BTVS was the first, and while I don't really feel all that obsessed with it anymore, I'll always be glad I gave it a chance and got into it.
Also I finally caught up with DW late last night! And just in time for the start of my fall shows tonight, with the VD season 2 premiere...more on both later.
