Catching up......

Wow, I haven't posted here in a while before the other day, when I had to vent....things have been really busy!  Actually things are still really busy, and I really shouldn't be posting here right now, but I'm in the mood...:p

Anyway lots of things to say--first of all, I have discovered a new TV show and addiction, "Aguila Roja"--a Spanish TV show that just started a few months ago about a teacher in the "17th century" (a really inaccurate 17th century though, that makes "The Tudors" look like the history channel, lol) who, upon the murder of his wife by a secret organization that is trying to kill the king to take power, converts into 'Aguila Roja' (Red Hawk in English), a ninja who investigates the murderers of his wife while also helping the helpless and poor--it's like Robin Hood and Batman (secret identiry and all that) combined, but with a ninja costume instead, and it's totally cracktastic and awesome! :p  In some of its aspects it actually reminds me a lot of "Merlin" too, which is another plus!  You can get a sense of its cracktastic glory in these pictures:

In the latter pic you can see another reason why I like this show--the protagonist is quite the sexy hottie! ;)

Also "The Tudors" season 3 finally began, and while I was a little bored with the first epp, the second episode I enjoyed quite a bit, and think the season could be a good one even if storywise it could never live up to the greatness of season 2--still haven't seen it past episode 2 though, I'll have to catch up this summer....
I'm very pleased with all the action my girl Mary is getting of course, though I was hoping they'd draw out even more the angst about finally giving in and signing the Acts declaring her mother's marriage invalid and herself a bastard.  But from the introduction of Reginald Pole (yay for Pole!  This was an unexpected treat for me, I like him a lot history-wise as well), it looks like they're going to include in this season the grisly and horrific execution of his mother, the Countess of Salisbury, who was innocent, and who was Mary's own governess growing up--it would be a chance for some extra angst and storyline for her character, since it was quite a traumatic experience for her--Salisbury ran away from the executioners and they pursued her hacking away until she died--not sure how much of that they can show on the TV though...

Also since Mary/Reginald is actually a history!ship of mine (yes, I have those too!  This one originated in the first historical novel I read about the Tudors, "Mary, Bloody Mary"--which got me interested in them--though it deepened from what I read of Mary I--Reginald Pole was her Archibishop of Cantebury (though it was only when he finally returned to England in 1554 that he took vows as a priest, he was made a cardinal before then without being a priest, though they seem to have not included this subtlety on the show--Charles V deliberately delayed his coming to England for fear that Pole might try to marry Mary, which he could have done--he would have been a much better match than Phillip since he was English, and of royal descent rather than any old noble) and one of her closest companions and confidantes, especially in her lonely final years after Phillip had abandoned her, and they actually died only hours apart from each other!  Plus when the new pope wanted Pole recalled as a heretic Mary refused to comply....so yeah, even though they'll probably never appear together on screen, being in different countries, I could still maybe vid them now or do something image-wise now that he's been cast and appeared....

And here's the rest, so I don't take up too much space....

Also my favorite Spanish movie that I saw this year, "La buena nueva" ("The Good News"), finally came out on DVD (I was almost afraid it wouldn't, since it was such a small production and was in theaters so ridiculously briefly and got no recognition in the awards, etc), and not only that, but it has English subtitles included AND works in all regions!  I was totally planning to use a program to neutralize the region coding, but now I don't need to....so yeah, I'm happy to have a copy of that, since I really love it (I think it's my favorite movie about the Spanish Civil War, a period that fascinates me), and because I have at least two vid plans for it, and this is the only way I can get clips for it....;)

Oh "The Host" came out here in Spanish on April 1--I went to the release party, it was really funny and interesting, and now I have a free cell phone decoration with the cover pic....though the Spanish title is "La huesped" or "The Guest", the complete opposite of the English title! *rolleyes*  I started reading it in Spanish, and it was interesting and nostalgic, I kind of want to read the rest....

And finally Gossip Girl is also going well, though a few of the recent turns of events are annoying and upsetting for me--that's the one American show I am still keeping up with, busy as I am, because I have to see what happens next each week! :p  Bones I just got too far behind on (even before they began showing two epps a week!), and so I now have someone taping it each week and this summer when I'm home I'll watch it all in a marathon or something.  I'm rather curious about it though, given some of the reactions I've read...though I also know some spoilers I'd rather not have known, and which make me have my doubts about the end of this season....:(

Sorry for the long post, I wanted to catch up....
