We had a great time at the state fair today. Mal had a blast on the few rides he was able to ride - turns out he's less than an inch shy of the 36" minimum on most of the kid rides. Some operators were more lenient than others, but he was particularly heartbroken when he wasn't allowed on the mini bobsled thing. We made it up to him with a double trip on the carousel.
Now we're full of Krispy Kreme burger, turkey leg, fried Oreos, Polish sausage, maple cotton candy, 3 flavors of roasted nuts, 2 kinds of root beer, hush puppies, and Kool Aid pickles; plus, we still have 2 types of fudge yet to taste. I didn't even get my usual candy apple or a frozen banana, either. I am so glad we took an insulated bag with ice packs and foil to stash leftovers.
We were there for 6.5 hours and left just as the late afternoon crowd was starting to trickle in. Although I would have preferred the cooler temperatures of an evening visit, I definitely enjoyed the smaller crowd and shorter lines of the weekday day.
