Yesterday while I was taking Jack for a walk I carelessly stepped on a loose stone and turned my ankle. Down I went, smashing my knee. Man, talk about a bolt of pain! But I managed to walk the rest of the way home ok (fortunately we were only about 6 blocks from home when I fell) so I figured it wasn't too bad. I cleaned it up as much as I could without passing out - it hurt that much to touch it - then was careful to keep moving it for the rest of the day.
Last night was torture. There was no way at all that I could get comfortable. Even the softest, lightest sheets touching my leg caused agony. I don't know if I managed more than about half an hour of sleep, despite taking Xanax to knock me out and Ultracet for the pain.
Today at work it ached, and at times I got a stab of pain so sharp that it made me slightly nauseous. By the time the day was over I was sure I was going to throw up...fortunately I was wrong about that.
Here's how it looks this evening:
Now, a day and a half later, my knee feels swollen and is really aching. I'm trying to decide if it's bad enough to go to the doctor or if I should just tough it out. If I don't go tomorrow, that leaves me hurting all weekend, but is there anything the doc could do that I'm not doing already?
Take a lesson from me, and PAY ATTENTION when walking on torn up sidewalks. :(
