so heres the scoop:
first, the "O" key on this comp. is broken and i do not intend to fix every missing "o".
So here goes. Winter and I are teaching at Anji Shangshu Private High School and University. Well no, we are not really teaching. We are helping out in the english classes and are in charge of english corner. it is one hour every day of just conversation in english to the vocational school kids.
basically these kids are the richest of the rich in this area but have been expelled or were not smart enough to go to the public school. Good combo huh?? Rich punks. No, they are really cool actually. It would be much different if I was 50, fat, and male but because I am young, female, and not TOO fat, they think im pretty cool. Being american and tall helps a lot too.
Winter and I have an apartment to share. They offered us 2 separate apts but its a lot nicer being together. We just finished a class and are about to head over to english corner.
Tonight, the 2 other americans and the kiwi that teach here are taking us to dinner. It will be super fun. Tomorrow night will be even more fun when one of the students takes us dancing. AHH Ill let you all know how clubs in Southern China are. Oh goodness, it'll be funny. The people we work with are heaps cool and really all about helping us out. Students have already asked to take us shopping, to lunch, and hiking. The school is lcated at the base of a bamboo mountain forest. This area is the birth place of bamboo and the hub for chopstick manufacturing. Ive gotten pretty good with chopsticks actually.
Our first night here was a kareoke competition and at the end, Winter and I were asked to sing. Everything was in chinese characters but they claimed to have western music. Apparently that fell through and we did a wonderfully pitiful rendition of RESPECT, with no music. Apparently making a fool of yourself is a good ice breaker because everyone asks us to sing now.
Anyway, thats it for now as I have to go to english corner but e-mails are appreciated: sarrs17@hotmail.com
