Today has been such a rollercoaster. I had big plans to make everybody help me clean the house today. As usual, it didn't work out that way. I had a huge fight with Josh about him not pulling his weight in housework. I'm tired of doing it all myself. I still got no help, but I did get a lot done even by myself. I'm redoing my bedroom, and the first thing I'm doing is going through my closets and storage areas to get rid of junk. My scrapbook things are piled up in the dining room, and those are going to go back in my room. I have a really nice big L-shaped desk in there that will be great for studying, scrapping (when I have time), writing, etc. I'll take my laptop back there, and I'll take my computer chair for now until I can get another one. I would love to take my desktop computer back there, but I'm not sure how to do that since the cable modem is hooked to that computer. After I finish re-arranging my room, I'm going to start searching for some new bedding. I'm not sure what colors I want yet, but I do know that I want an old fashioned bedspread instead of a comforter. I need to buy new blinds for my windows. I took them down to clean them and did a really dumb thing. I boiled water and figured that would really clean them good, but all it managed to do was buckle and warp the blinds. I went ahead and put them back up until I buy new ones.
I haven't put my Christmas presents away yet until I get my bedroom done. I got some awesome gifts. Mike got me an MP3 player. I didn't think I would like it as much as I do. I've already used up one battery. I'm listening to it now. He loaded a lot of songs on it for me which was nice since I can't figure out how to do it myself. He also got me Red Door perfume (this has been my favorite for a few years) and he got me Lovely perfume (by Sarah Jessica Parker). I love that now, too. He got me a scarf, hat and gloves. My coat is red and black, and the scarf he got me is black and blue. I've been wanting to get a new coat anyway, something shorter (mine is a longish coat) that will be easier to just throw on the back of my chair in my classes. He got me mint green gloves. :) The kids were making fun of me when I put on my hat. They said I looked like the English woman (actually she's Australian I think) from About A Boy. I was wearing a pair of chandelier earrings and my hair was sticking out of the hat in a weird way, so they said I looked really weird. I prefer to call it eccentric. I probably more closely resembled the bag lady from Home Alone with my red coat, black and royal blue scarf, black hat and mint green gloves. All I needed was some pigeon poop on my shoulder to complete the picture. Mike also got me what he calls bed socks. They are warm fuzzy socks that are really great for cold winter nights. And some body spray, a pen since I'm such a pen freak. I know there are more things that he got me, but I can't think right now. Caleb got me two necklaces from Ireland. They are SO beautiful!! I normally like gold jewelry, and the kids have been trying to convince me that white gold or silver is much prettier. I was never convinced until I got these necklaces. I love them so much. They look really nice wearing them together, too, because one is longer than the other. We're Irish and all of us are very into our Irish heritage, so he knew I would love them....and I do. Ashley got me Brittany Spears perfume that smells SO good. It has a bit of a powdery scent to it. I forget what it's called, other than Brittany Spears perfume. She also got me two bags of Starbuck's Christmas Blend coffee. I got some last year and absolutely loved it, but they only sell it at Christmas time. She got me a nice stainless steel tall travel coffee cup, too. Mom gave me cash and she cooked our Chistmas dinner for us. I think she feels bad for me that I stay so busy, so she has been cooking holiday meals for me the last two years. With my cash I got myself some new jeans, a new nightgown, some earrings, socks, undies, and a pair of scrub pants for work. They're too long, but who cares. I'll just wash them in hot water and maybe they'll shrink. Jim paid my cell phone bill for me for my Christmas present. That was a REALLY nice present since my bill was $374. Almost everybody I talk to has Cingular, so most of my minutes are mobile-to-mobile and don't count towards my minutes used. But Charlie has NTelos, and we really racked up the minutes....so he got me a phone on his plan. He has unlimited minutes within our calling area. They don't offer this plan anymore, but since he has this plan they went ahead and let him have unlimited for the lower price that he pays on his plan. Now if I could only find the phone. It's hard keeping up with two cell phones.
Oh, I'm going to start going to the Y to work out now. I went last week and got a tour of the facility and I'm excited to get started. I have even figured out what all I'm going to do. First I'm going to try the water aerobics since I'm so out of shape. I'll feel better working out with the geriatric crowd than with the young people who can't relate to jiggly jello butts, big ole belly, and saggy boobs that could actually sit on my lap. I'm determined to get in shape, though. After I'm able to do water aeorobic without gasping for breath, I'm going to do the shape program. This program is free for the first month and $35 therafter. It's a small class of only 8 people. They have one each of all the equipment in a little private room and the instructor teaches you how to work on all the equipment. It's great for orienting to the equipment before throwing yourself out in the big room with everybody. This place has big glass windows where people driving by can see you working out. I'm going to feign dislike for the equipment near that window. I really don't want an audience when I fumble or fall off the equipment or when I'm sucking wind from being so out of shape. I'm really excited to start. I was a little overwhelmed when I saw that big pool, though. I can't swim, so hopefully I won't lose my balance and drown.
I'm trying the paid version of LJ. I only got the two months to start since I'm not sure how much time I'll have to write here. I would like to continue, but we'll see. I spent a little time changing things around a little, but I'm still not completely satisfied with it. It'll do for now, though. And since I'm sure I lost anybody who might be reading this a couple of paragraphs ago from boredom, I will stop here, get myself some more coffee, and get back to my room to clean and declutter some more.
