re: Josh because re: re: my sister
Sharks win and I go into a spiral of madness about Kaner.
Actual quote from me in my dream last night:
"Please don't sit that close to me while I'm naked and reading about Patrick Kane."
The whole dream was ridiculous. I'd been selected to read aloud this long biographical expose about Patrick Kane at some university hall and I elected to wear nothing but a towel having attended said event immediately after a shower. I wasn't even embarrassed about it, either. I just was like, "Yep, went with the towel look. Deal with it."
The article was ridiculous. It covered every moment from Kane's life from birth to present (though I only was able to read up until just after he was drafted, which was like a Mortal Kombat battle of reputation.)
The parts I remember:
1) the entire article had been printed on a letter press and was hand-amended in places.
2) at one point, there was a full page spread of a picture of a covered wagon and the kid that had decided to sit right next to me at the front of the classroom (hence quote) started humming the Oregon Trail music. (Not sure if the article was implying that Kaner was a part of the Manifest Density movement or if it was just a reference to him being American.
3) At one point, because Kane had been drafted first, it was decided that he had to destroy the reputation of another professional athlete and so, as Kaner put it in the article, "I looked over the roster of the Texas Rangers, fisting, and decided it was re: Josh because re: re: my sister."
THAT MAKES NO SENSE BUT I REMEMBER IT EXACTLY BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS LIKE, "IT DOES NOT SAY 'FISTING'!" But it did. And also because I remember thinking, "Kane doesn't know what 're:' means, does he?"
The gist was that this Jeff guy on the Rangers went to high school with Kane's sister and so somehow by making it public that they knew each other, Jeff would get weaker and Kane would get stronger.
My alarm went off before I could get to the part about him meeting Toews, but I remember being VERY excited about that part.
