post-reunion J/S at the opera - TW for PTSD, spoilers for Tosca

So, Sherlock's back from the dead, his reputation's been patched up, and he and John are reunited and doing cases again. They're not completely over the emotional strain of Reichenbach and its aftermath, but they're over the initial Angst Hump of reunion and enjoying being together again. Life is, in general, going pretty well.
Sherlock and John are celebrating the successful conclusion of a case by going to the opera together. They're seeing Puccini's Tosca. The guys have a great time until the end of the third act. Who'd have thought that an opera that ends with the soprano flinging herself from a parapet would turn out to be just a wee bit triggering?
If you can work in a little emotional h/c in the aftermath, that would be lovely. Classical music geekery is also a plus.
Slash, pre-slash, and the kind of epic bromance that involves going on opera dates together are all welcome.
Yay, I'm so glad you're liking it so far! I haven't written much in this fandom yet, so this is a bit of an adventure for me. Sorry for the delay...I've been a little swamped this last week, but I am definitely still working on it! I'll have another piece up soon.

It did get fairly exhausting though, going full tilt like that for days at a time. When he and Sherlock trudged into their flat that cold, grey Friday afternoon, third case of the week neatly wrapped up and under their belts, John had to admit that he was rather looking forward to a quiet evening of tea and telly

Thank you so much! There is, yes! I feel awful about the delay, but I just got swamped with work the last couple of weeks. It is not abandoned though, and I'll have another piece up as soon as possible.

I'm very excited at the prospect of this one. I love the idea of John losing it during the climax of an opera. The intensity and tenderness that could come after is so tempting. Additionally, the thingy that they were seeming close to during one of the fights .. .well, that could rear its ugly head I suppose!
What if John went the OTHER way, though. I just saw you die, it could happen again, Sherlock-Love-Diet time. Of course, isn't denial worse than just getting on with it?

Yay! I'm so glad you're liking it. I'll be totally honest...I'm not sure myself yet exactly how angsty this is going to be. I've got a pretty good idea of how it's going to go through the end of the opera, but after that I think I'm just going to have to wait and let John decide how much of a fight he's going to put up. ;)

Just a short update tonight, but it's something! In point of fact, John had exactly one suit. He'd had two, but one of them had had to be binned a year or so back after he'd gotten splattered in something particularly unspeakable (and un-dry-cleanable) whilst on a case, and he'd never bothered to replace it

Yeah, that suit's probably not going to help matters. I like the sense of foreboding you have at the end. This entire part gives me the sense that nothing is going to go well tonight. Thanks for the update and good luck with RL.
