Alright, so your head honchos haven't really decided yet whether or not a discussion post would be beneficial to have. HOWEVER, I'm putting this up in regards to an incident that would really benefit from a move, and I don't want to wait for all of us to make an educated decision ( Read more... )

I know what you mean, but do you think that anon status really helps what we are trying to accomplish here? I think people shouldn't even have to resort to speaking about their personal experience (we know what this is about and what the trigger we are discussing is, and obviously it's easy to talk about it), but we should manage to reach a decision

I think it's even more degrading to force people to HAVE TO talk about it if they don't want to (and if they are writing anon I assume they really would rather not share it here, to a bunch of strangers) just because they feel they have to make a point. They shouldn't even *feel* they need to make a point at all costs like this, we should simply be able to reach an agreement that protects these people from being hurt in the future.

So, I think that anon is not necessary, because everyone can simply come here and offer a solution based on their personal sensibility (that can come from direct or indirect experience), and there should be no need to back it up with 'I say this, because it's happened to me'.

I don't know guys, tell me if I'm really off the point here. I want everyone to talk freely and not be hurt, but in my experience anon is the best way to go against that.

i understand the point you're making that those who have been hurt in any way shouldn't be forced to come and say "i am hurt by this b/c of such and such". no one should HAVE to do that.

but leaving anon commenting off ensures that such people at least have the choice to come here and say their part without having to identify themselves. why rob them of that?

we have a diligent mod who will step in if threads derail too much or get wanky. let's make sure we can keep the discussion going without barring any interested parties.
