Sherlock always hated being away from 221b Baker Street and tried to avoid leaving for considerate amounts of time. However this time Lestrade had had something very interesting for him slightly more up North and Sherlock hadn’t been able to resist. After only two days looking at what little evidence they had collected Sherlock saw the one slip-up the killer had made and had, of course, named the killer. Unfortunately, due to lack of solid evidence and only Sherlock’s word to go, the police decided they’d need more evidence.

It had been a long week but finally, he was going home.
Sherlock smiles all the way home on the train ride. The thought of what he’s yet to discover with John in the new territory of their love excites him. It started simply and innocent enough, a bored text here about how the pathologist’s voice was too whiney and nasal, an e-mail there about how things were going. Then things started to get interesting; a ‘missing you’ here, ‘a wish you were here’ there and before Sherlock would account, document and file what was happening in his hard-drive he was utterly and completely in love with John and suddenly unable to keep John out of his mind as he lay in the cramped bed in the cheap B&B.

Sherlock can’t help but twiddle his thumbs in the cab but decides against calling or texting John, after all, he doesn’t want to seem “desperate”.
Finally the cab pulls up and Sherlock bounds out, more excited than he probably should be, and pays the driver. Sherlock opens the door of 221b and strolls in quietly before bounding up the stairs, taking them two at a time.

“John!” He calls out as he enters “John, I’m back!”

He looks through the rooms and calls John’s name a few more times before casually concluding that he must’ve popped out, probably for milk and biscuits and other menial things. Sherlock hops down the steps again to see Mrs. Hudson; she’s always intrigued by his cases.

“Mrs. Hudson, I’m back.” He states loudly as he knocks on her door
As she opens the door Sherlock catalogues the weariness about her, the slight sagging of her shoulders and the hardened look in her eyes.

“Oh. Hello Sherlock.” Sherlock eyes her warily; this is not normal behaviour from her

“Hello. Do you happen to know where John is? He doesn’t seem to be around.” Sherlock notices her body straightening, her shoulders tensing and her eyes hardening to the point where there’s almost a glazed look there.

“I can’t believe you, of all people Sherlock, would have the audacity to ask that.”

Sherlock feels bemused and hurt, two very unfamiliar emotions for him, by her words

Mrs Hudson stared at the screen aghast. What she saw with her own eyes astounded her. Sherlock thought he’d really drive his point home. He skipped forward a few days, to when the emotions really began to show.

Sherlock closes the message line quickly though he’s sure that Mrs Hudson had a good enough eye to spot some of the dirtier texts they’d sent later that day. Sherlock can see her as she slots things into place; mind whirring away behind her eyes.

"Oh dear..." she says finally and Sherlock wants to ball his fists in frustration at not knowing what to do. Then she smiles at him. She smiles.

"You know what you have to do, Sherlock. There's only one person who can help you right now."

Sherlock knows she's right. Sherlock also knows he'll never live it down.
Right now though, he couldn't care less. John is out there somewhere and Sherlock has to get him back before his whole world falls apart.

OP

Oh those were some horrible things Jim had 'Sherlock' say! But at least Sherlock's figuring out what the problem is.

And of course Mrs. Hudson would spot some of the dirtier texts. ;)

Keep writing anon!
