Fill: The Way You Look Tonightrainbowwizard1March 22 2011, 07:09:33 UTC
Can't believe I'm actually doing this...
----
"No," John says.
"Yes," Lestrade argues.
"No."
"I'm doing it, and you're not gonna stop me, mate." Lestrade grins at him as he drains the last of his beer. "Liquid courage, yeah?"
"I can't believe this. This is insane, Greg."
"It's brilliant!" Lestrade turns back to John as he's walking toward the stage. "Wish me luck."
"Not a chance."
One table over, John hears a shocked gasp. He turns to see Donovan staring up at the stage as Lestrade steps onto it. "John, is he--?" Donovan attempts to ask.
John buries his face in his hands and nods. "Yes." Suddenly, Donovan is sitting down next to him, followed by Anderson.
"I've never seen him do this sober," Donovan says in surprise. "Well, he must really like you..."
John groans. "Shut up, Sally!"
"Aww, you're so cute when you blush."
Suddenly, they hear the tell-tale signs of a jazz riff on a trombone and drums.
"Oh God," John whispers.
"Some day, when I'm awfully low, And the world is cold I will feel a glow just thinking of you And the way you look tonight," Lestrade starts in a gravelly baritone.
John swallows. Hard.
"Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm And your cheeks so soft, There's nothing for me but to love you, And the way you look tonight.
With each word your tenderness grows, Tearing my fears apart And that laugh that wrinkles your nose It touches my foolish heart.
Lovely, never, ever change Keep that breathless charm. Won't you please arrange it? Cause I love you, just the way you look tonight.
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose Touches my foolish heart.
Lovely, don't you ever change Keep that breathless charm. Won't you please arrange it? Cause I love you, just the way you look tonight."
The pub explodes with applause, and Lestrade just laughs it off, walking back over to John. He holds his hand out for John, who takes it, and Lestrade pulls him up, kissing him. They're all aware that Donovan cheers the loudest at that.
"You're insane," John chides when they break apart.
"And sober," Lestrade counters.
"I love you, you idiot," John tells him.
"Good. Cuz I love you, too."
Donovan's never going to let them live this down. They're totally fine with that.
