-Oh dear Go...-
For some reason, that was what Lastrade would always remember of the whole fact. Not that Mary, that petite and cute little blonde, barely of legal age, had almost killed John. Not the sight of her bowels leaking over the street after Sherlock Holmes had leaped to kill her. Not even the frantic struggle to restrain a consulting detective gone mad avoding the little but effective pocket knife he was holding. No. What he remembered mostly was Donovan voice, barely restrained, and her hand pressing her mounth while she looked, wide-eyed, at Sherlock Holmes' face.
He himself avoided to look at it. He wasn't sure he would like what he was certain he would see.
Hovewer, lately, after a man he had been carefully istructed to forgot had taken away a still murdeous Sherlock (and he *really* didn't want to think about it, superior orders or not. Sherlock reaction had been... terrifing, but worse still was the bland nonchalance of the other not-existing man in taking the young consulting detective away)... hovewer, while he learnt that the Doctor would live and that Sherlock had failed to become a murder even this time (thanks to modern medicine not of lack of will. Modern medicine and brotherly concern and he really didn't need order not to think about that) hovewer, drinking is mud-tasting coffee, and really all the automatic-machine had the same fould liquid inside...
Hovewer, the cause had been sufficient.
He would write that, in his rapport.

For some strange reason, Donovan being discombobulated at that sight instead of going "I was right!" really gives you the sense of barely averted carnage. Not to mention older and wiser Lestrade refusing to look.
Sure you want to leave it at this? It has great potential!
