... Now singing "detachable hea~art" to the tune of "detachable penis". No. Bad Nin's mind. Shut up.

It isn't manipulation if you always give it back.
That's like the "it's not stealing, it's borrowing" line. No, Sherlock, it doesn't work that way. :|

"I fucking love you," Victor Trevor said ten days after they'd met
... See, I'd call that too fast, but John shot a man for Sherlock the day after he met him. Suddenly, my world view has shifted, oGod.

John said, "It's alright," and touched his cold nose to the warm side Sherlock's neck.
Asdflkjh. ♥ I am such a sucker for small touches like that. Do not get me started. It will not end well for anyone (if it ever ends).

I'm interested in how hearts and bodies work in this universe. I'm guessing that the chest (or at least the region where the heart is) is laid bare and open. Blood doesn't gush out through some type of mechanism that allows the heart to beat outside the body and still provide it with blood flow. Which makes CPR a lot easier, but also leaves hearts much more vulnerable. And man, having like 1/2-3/4 lb organ missing from your chest could probably mess with your balance too. Oman, what if someone did open heart surgery on two people and then accidentally switched the two? Would the patients notice? This is so complicated but fascinating! And I am totally overthinking this for fun! I can just handwave everything and explain it all by saying ~MAGIC~ Surprisingly a very versatile and useful explanation. :Db

I'm never going to get over you. After. When you leave.
Oh Sherlock, baby, don't think that. D:

As an adolescent, he picked chests as swiftly as he picked pockets.
That? Is a really cool image. In a "Bit Not Good" way cuz wow, all those hearts he stole. Literally. Heh.

he forces it back inside of John's ribcage, hard enough that it will stay.
Huh! He can do that? Fascinating. *Mimes Sherlock's thinking pose*

Sherlock finds himself straddled, saddled with a lapful of ex-army surgeon, sitting heavily atop his hips and thighs
Helloooo nurse doctor~ God, I love him taking the initiative in these matters, cuz Sherlock's too emotionally stunted to do it. I LOVE THE MAN, BUT SERIOUSLY.

"It's too big for me now," says John.
Oh. Oh.

And wow, the way they share the heart. I find it interesting how you straddle the line between literal and metaphorical usage of "heart", even though it's all literal in this fic. That's so cool, oman. And of course John's heart is big enough for two!

Suddenly reminded of this one poem by E. E. Cummings. More specifically, the first few lines:
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
