Zombie John fic, maybe?
I have some more information for my search.
The fic I'm looking for was not omegaverse. In it, there was an outbreak of some kind (I think zombie) and John gets infected at work. He goes to the hospital to turn and he and Sherlock say their goodbyes. After, Sherlock gets Mycroft to give him zombie John. Sherlock takes care of John at home while searching for the cure. He keeps him clean etc.
The story switches to Mycroft's point of view. Mycroft's scientists come up with a shot that delays onset of the virus if bitten. An attacker purposefully injects Mycroft with the virus. He slowly turns. Some time after Sherlock finds the cure and brings him back. Sherlock also brings John back. John has vague zombie memories. I think he has some brsin damage.
