Hi! I haven't been here for a while due to some inconvenience (namely: colds and coughs). So, I've been amusing myself by reading manga downloads, watching anime online and cross-stitching.
Yet today, I suddenly decided to write the second chapter of Love is Written by A Comic. I hope you'll enjoy this. (winks)
(Chapter One) Disclaimer: I only appreciate watching and reading the whole Prince of Tennis series, not owning them.
Warning: Characters might go OOC.
This means thoughts.
"This" means whispers.
"Are you the one who is called the Ice Prince?"
I looked away from my book as I saw a brown-haired young man staring at me. What's with this annoying guy? I stared back at him before I went back to my reading.
"So it's true that you don't speak to anyone."
He's so annoying. Why don't he just go away? I irritably turned the page.
"Aren't you listening to me?"
Of course, I'm not listening to you. So why don't you --
Suddenly my book was grabbed by him and threw it away from me. I glared icily at him. Why you...
He smirked at me. "So now you will listen to me."
Then I heard some of the students' whispers and murmurs around me.
"How dare he talk to the prince like that!"
"I've heard about him. He got kicked out of school because he had seduced his class adviser."
"But the prince has kept his cool. That's what I like about him."
"Heh. I'm impressed. You managed to keep your cool, your highness." He daringly looked at me.
You're messing with the wrong person, you idiot. I shrugged nonchalantly. "So you got my attention. What do you want from me?"
"Nothing. I just want to hear your voice. You have a wonderful voice. You should talk more." He smiled brightly at me.
I stared blankly, surprised by his words. I have a wonderful voice? What does he mean by that?
Suddenly he laughed. "You should look at yourself. I guess nobody told you that before."
"I...guess so." I smiled reluctantly. What a lively person. But...I like him.
He reached out his hand. "By the way, my name is Matsuhiko Soujirou. You can call me Souji. What's yours?"
I accepted it hesitantly. "My name is Yukimisu Ryouya. You may call me Ryou."
With that simple handshake, my complicated relationship with him has started.
CHAPTER TWO
Fuji's Discovery
"Eiji, thank you for letting me borrow this yesterday." Fuji returned the manga to Eiji, who was tying his shoelaces.
Eiji accepted it and quickly put it in his bag. "Thank you. So what do you think about the story?"
"To my surprise, I like it. The characters are interesting especially Soujirou though I couldn't help but notice that there is something familiar about the characters."
"You think so?" Eiji glanced at him.
"Uh-huh. But I'm impressed on how she wrote the story."
Eiji quickly corrected. "You mean, he."
"He?" Fuji raised a brow at him. "I thought these type of writers are written mostly by women. Even the name itself sounds like a woman's name."
"Didn't you read at the right flap of the manga? It was written there that Minami Chitose is a guy."
Fuji shrugged. "Maybe he's gay or something like that."
They were interrupted by someone clearing its throat. "Fuji-senpai...Eiji-senpai..."
"Ah, Echizen. Do you have something to say to us?" Fuji flashed his usual smile to Ryoma.
"Buchou and Oishi-senpai wants to see the two of you at the courts right now." Ryoma took his racket from his locker and left the clubhouse.
Eiji watched Fuji for a moment before he casually asked. "So when are you planning to tell him, Fuji?"
Fuji turned around, stared directly at Eiji. "Tell him about what?"
"That you love him."
"Heh. So what makes you think that I love him?" Fuji grabbed his racket from his locker.
"I'm your friend, Fuji. Besides, I read too much manga to know those glances of yours. So when are you going to tell him?"
"Saa..." Fuji smiled enigmatically at Eiji before he left.
Eiji sighed in resignation as he followed suit.
While taking a break, Ryoma discreetly observed Fuji, who was having a match with Tezuka.
"Incredible, aren't they?" He looked over his shoulder as he saw Inui scribbling on his notebook.
"Mada mada dane." He smirked at Inui, walking towards the direction of the drinking faucets.
"You've been looking at Fuji quite a lot, Echizen." Ryoma frowned at Inui, who was still watching the match.
"Is there a problem if I watch Fuji-senpai?"
"No. But someone might misinterpret that gaze of yours." Inui turned around, looking at him.
"Hmm. I didn't know Buchou has feelings for Fuji-senpai." Ryoma noticed Inui's subtle tension on his hand. He smirked again. "Ja ne." Then, he walked away from Inui.
Inui could only stared at his retreating back. That cocky freshman...
"Inui?"
Inui was startled to hear Fuji's voice beside him. "Fuji..."
Fuji looked around. "Are, I thought I saw Echizen with you."
"He went to the clubhouse."
"Thank you, Inui." Fuji started to walk towards the clubhouse.
"Fuji," he turned around and looked enquiringly to Inui. "You know that Tezuka has feelings for you--"
"I know, Inui." He evaded Inui's gaze.
"Then why--"
"Tezuka knows of my feelings for him. That's all." Then, Fuji walked away.
"Better not interfere those two." Inui moved over the other court to observe Oishi and Eiji.
When Fuji arrived at the clubhouse, Ryoma was already at the door, carrying his bag.
"Echizen, leaving so soon?"
"I am meeting someone, senpai." Ryoma adjusted his bag.
Fuji glanced at him. "I've noticed that you have been...busy these days."
"It's none of your business, Fuji-senpai," Ryoma replied curtly.
"Really? That's too bad because it's my business to be concerned about your welfare."
"Excuse me. I have to leave now." Ryoma walked away.
"Echizen..." Fuji grabbed his arm, forcing him to halt.
"What is it that you want, senpai?" Ryoma glared annoyingly at Fuji.
"I just want to talk--"
"Fuji--" Fuji turned around and saw Tezuka near them.
"I really have to leave now, Fuji-senpai. Will you let go of your hand?"
Fuji immediately released his arm. "I'm sorry."
"Thank you." Ryoma rubbed his aching arm. "I leave you two alone. Excuse me." He quickly walked away.
"You still haven't told him, have you?" Tezuka passed by Fuji, who was staring at Ryoma's retreating figure, and opened his locker. "If you have courage to reject me, why won't you simply confess to him?"
"Because he has been eluding me recently. Haven't you noticed? Ever since the Nationals has ended, he immediately left the courts after our practice. He usually hangs out with Momoshiro and Eiji but he hasn't."
Tezuka grabbed his bag from the locker and then, closed his locker. "Maybe he's busy with his studies."
Fuji quickly dismissed his statement. "Bah! He always gets high grades even if he falls asleep in his classes so scratch that out."
"Maybe he has a girlfriend from other school." Fuji threw an icy glare at him. "Right. It's not that either." Tezuka mused for a while. "What if he is working after classes?"
"Impossible. They have oodles of money from his father's winnings."
"Maybe he got wind of your feelings for him and he doesn't reciprocate them."
Fuji stared at him for a while before he replied. "Then I'll make sure that he'll reciprocate my feelings back."
Tezuka could only shrug at him. "Well, good luck with that, Fuji. See you tomorrow." He left the clubhouse.
Fuji sighed inwardly. I guess he has finally moved on. He then went over to his locker and was about to open it when he saw a brown envelope lying on the floor.
"I wonder who owned this," he murmured, picking up the envelope and prying on its contents. "Ara. This is interesting..."
Meanwhile at Fushigi Publications...
Ryoma was meeting with his editor, Ichinose Mikoto, in a private room.
Ichinose handed to him a bundle of letters and postcards. "As usual, here are your fan letters and comments."
"Thanks." Ryoma accepted them.
"My, you're getting more popular, Minami-sensei. By the way, have you heard the name Aoyama Kenji?"
"Isn't he that famous producer who made that popular shounen-ai movie, A Kiss in the Rain?"
His editor raised a brow. "I didn't expect that you know him."
"Why wouldn't I know him?" Ryoma sighed wearily. "My classmates kept on blabbing about that movie. It was really annoying to hear his name everyday." He glanced at his editor. "Why did you ask, Ichinose-san?"
"Well, he called me yesterday and said that he wants to produce Love in Thorns." Ryoma looked in askance at him. "I'm not joking, sensei. He said that he loves the way you wrote as if you were the leading character." Ichinose gazed at him. "So what do you think?"
Ryoma remained silent for a while before he replied. "I--I'll think about it. I haven't recovered from all that furor during the Nationals. Besides, I think it's quite too early to tell the readers that Minami Chitose and the young Prince of Tennis are the same. You know what will happen if my family and my school know about this."
I know. You'll quit as a mangaka. Ichinose grimaced. "All right. I guess I will wait for your decision. Okay. Can I see your rough drafts now, sensei?"
"Of course." Ryoma zipped his bag open, rummaging through his belongings. "Huh? My rough drafts are gone."
"Oh, my..." His editor watched him, looking through his things again. "Maybe you have misplaced them somewhere."
"I'm sure that I've brought them this morning unless--" Realization appeared on his face. "I must have dropped it after our afternoon practice."
Ichinose sighed. "Did you have a computer at home?" Ryoma nodded. "Good. Just send them to me through your e-mail. Tonight, if possible, so that I can give my comments tomorrow. Okay?"
Ryoma quickly stood from his seat. "I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, Ichinose-san." He bowed politely at his editor. "I'll see you tomorrow then." He then quickly left the room.
Ichinose remained silent before he reluctantly left his seat. "I guess I have to return to my work."
With that, he finally left the room.
Fifteen minutes later...
Ryoma has just arrived at the school gates when he met Fuji outside.
"Fuji-senpai, did you come from the clubhouse?" Ryoma immediately asked him.
Fuji nodded. "Yes. Ryuzaki-sensei, Oishi and I were discussing about who will be the next captain of our team. Why?"
"Senpai, did you see any envelope before you left?"
"Oh. You mean this?" Fuji opened his bag, showing Ryoma the envelope. "I saw this near your locker."
"Yes, this is it." Ryoma snatched the envelope from him; he then opened it, skimming over its contents.
Fuji was watching amusingly at the freshman. "They were drawn excellently. Did you draw them, Echi--"
He was interrupted with Ryoma's loud sigh. "Thank goodness that they're still intact." Ryoma glanced at him. "Were you asking something, senpai?"
Fuji shook his head. "Iie. Please don't mind me. I'm just surprised that you came here for those, Echizen."
"I was supposed to give them to my cousin's friend, who was working at some publishing office." Ryoma placed the envelope in his bag. "Nanako-san is going to have my head for this."
"The sketches are really nicely drawn. She draws like Minami Chitose's."
Ryoma's brow quirked. "You've read Minami Chitose's works?"
"Just recently. Eiji let me read one of his works, Love in Thorns. It was written quite vividly that I made me wonder if he's gay."
"Just because he writes those kind of manga, that doesn't mean he's gay." Ryoma stared directly at Fuji. "Maybe he had fallen for someone and he's afraid that that person won't reciprocate his feelings for he's a guy. Did you ever think of that, senpai?"
Fuji fell silent for a while before he smiled amusingly. "Heh. I didn't expect you will say that. Quite an interesting point of view there for an apathetic person like you, Echizen."
Ryoma turned his back on him. "If you have nothing else to talk about, senpai, I better take my leave." He went ahead of Fuji.
Fuji chuckled softly, watching Ryoma's retreating figure. "I think I know what's going on with Echizen but I must check on few things before confirming my suspicions. To think he's that mangaka..." Suddenly his eyes were opened. "Things are going to be interesting from now on."
With that usual smile on his face, Fuji left the place.
What do you think?
This chapter hasn't also edited. I won't mind if you point out some grammatical errors.
So then, I have to go. I have to write two one-shots for Valentines' Day: a TezRyo to be placed in Ff.net and a FujiRyo to be placed in here. Ja ne!
