I've been having a lazy week, part of me keeps thinking that I should make use of my evenings off but I'm a little on the anti-social side... oh, and the majority of my friends work in theatre. I thought about going out with my camera but I have hundreds of nice summer-y style shots, I'm off again in October and I absolutely love the way parks look in the early autumn - all those colours, the trees looking a little sorry for themselves... plus I've got a great technique for making ghostly images that I'd love to try out in one of the graveyards (for that I require a little assistance... hint hint).
I did go see The Hurt Locker the other day. It was tense, awesome and very hard to describe - definitely recommended and what made a difference was that it wasn't a film that kept trying to shove a message down my throat, it was just a film about a bomb disposal team. Not that there is anything wrong with watching a film with a message, but sometimes I just want to watch a film. I did laugh during the credits though, some bloke sitting in the row behind me said "it was directed by a woman?" in an OMFG sort of voice.
Also saw Avenue Q for the third time. Brother and his friend loved it, I still think it's amazing :). There was an understudy on for Nicky/Trekkie and there was a moment where he fumbled with one his lines in the first song that made me go "oh dear..." but he was absolutely fantastic. They were having a few lighting issues and some of the followspotting was... well, not that great... wasn't terrible, just inexperienced I think. One of the girls who works there dep'ed with us for a bit, she's a nice girl just... well, let's just say if I was running a spot team I wouldn't employ her full time. Still, it's a great, fun and brilliant show that I definitely recommend seeing.
In about an hour I'm heading off to see District 9, I was listening to Mark Kermode's radio show but decided to turn it off before the review. I went into 'The Hurt Locker' almost blind (had only seen the trailer and heard Andrew Collins's review) and I think it helped that I knew next to nothing about it. I'm tempted to see 'Broken Embraces' tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I'm going to be in the mood for it. A little tempted to head into central London and track down a showing of 'Moon'.
The only other thing I've really done this week is re-watch series 1 & 2 of 'Rescue Me' whilst waiting for series 3 to arrive from Amazon. I have much love for that show. I also switched guinea pig food but may have a problem, Mim doesn't seem to want to eat it (I've watched her nuzzle around in the bowl before giving up with a sad look on her face), now I feel guilty because I deliberately didn't re-fill the hay rack in the hopes that she'll get hungry and try the food. It's hard watching her little face look at me and go "why are you doing this to me?".
