Valverde had a disastrous ride in the mountain and I don't think there is any way for him to crawl back to take the overall lead now. Cadel Evans has taken the jersey one second ahead of Frank Schleck, it's a pity though as Evans is a unexciting rider, he doesn't attack... but I am glad he survived his nasty fall yesterday... I'm thinking that Frank Schleck could be the winner once we get to Paris, he has the guts, the drive and is exciting to watch. I think that Ricco may have peaked too early yesterday as today it didn't seem to be his day, that's hoping his win yesterday was 100% organic (apparently he's been tested after almost every stage and holds a certificate from the UCI about his blood levels, hopefully it's just one of those natural highs but still :S).
I really wish that a big channel or radio station in the UK was giving the race decent coverage, the 5 sports extra feed kept dying on me and I'm struggling to watch the highlights on the ITV website due to their strange choice in using the Silverlight plug-in which doesn't want to work with Firefox 3 (and I dislike having to open up IE). Also I'm heading off on the 21st so will miss the final few exciting stages, unless the hotel has Eurosport which I doubt and following it by newspaper is rather boring... wish us Brits got excited about the tour.
Was looking at the photographs on the BBC website, this one has to be my favourite:
(once the tour is over I promise no more sport gushing until the Olympics... badminton, fencing and cycling!)
