Tour post 1
Damn, damn, DAMN! Manuel Beltran (Liquigas) has tested positive for EPO and kicked off the tour... he's the only one but it probably means we're going to say goodbye to the entire Liquigas team (fortunately none of the big name favourites are part of this team). I was really hoping this was going to be a 100% clean tour this year, with a bit of luck it's just going to be Beltran. Incidentally Beltran is the fourth team-mate of Lance Armstrong to be found guilty of doping... I'm still unconvinced that Armstrong rode all his tours clean and it's getting harder to believe that he was the one of the few clean ones on his team... even the bloke who went onto to be his tour manager confessed to doping!
I'm still holding out for Alejandro Valverde for the overall win, Cadel Evans is an unexciting rider he never attacks... although Kim Kirchen is looking fantastic.
