Grammar confuses me, it doesn't seem to make sense. I could never write a book because you have to write the speech in proper grammar, even though you don't talk like that! Gr.
My mum occasionally asks why don't I become a vet... well, I don't particularly like cats and rabbits are evil. If there was such a job as Guinea Pig Psychologist I could probably do that quite well XD!
My first diploma was of a teacher (Russian/Ukrainian literature), and I spent 3 years teaching kids (from 8 to 15 years of age )in a village school. Then I realized my main interest was in journalistics.
I understand you perfectly. Carry on. Very often there come shameful moments of stubborness in parents, just like an eclipse of the sun. They simply loose the insight somewhere along the way. But mostly temporarily.
I think she gets frustrated with me because Chris (younger brother) is being so open about what he wants to do at university next year. He didn't get the grades for medical school so he wants to study chemistry or pharmacology. I think mum is listening to him go on about his ideas for a job and then thinks of me, when all she knows is that I want to work in theatre. My brother bought me a 'A Very Short Introduction to Journalism' which I think is a hint, personally I think it's a bit like teaching - you need the patience and the commitment.
And you don't sound parent-like... at least not much :P
I understand that your dyslexia creates you problems in life, but if this is impossible to change, try (I know I will sound banal, but nevertheless) to concentrate on things you do well. And, even though I know you only via this LJ, let me tell you without any flattery: you are a bright and specific person. I could number the things you`re good at(and sometimes - even great) here in your LJ, but I don`t think I should do it.:-) You don`t need consolation, just look home many people (guests and friends) in this LJ like you. I`d be proud of it! Do I have to say anything else?:-)
It doesn't really affect my life much, it's only when it does that I get frustrated. It's a bit like trying to solve a puzzle and you can SEE how to solve it, but you can't do it.
Some of them really do but not many. To be a teacher you have to be special, there are too many teachers who chose the teaching career because...well, just because. And children hate teachers like that, teachers hate back, it`s a bloody chain reaction.
