I never thought I'd say this, but I have teenagers. How did that happen? Considering what a kid I am, this has been quite an experience. Since I was such a bad girl, my poor kids can't get away with anything. I know all the tricks. My daughter recently tried to pull the "you tell your parents we're spending the night at my house, and I'll tell mine we're spending the night at yours and we'll hit the party at Katie's." uh huh. didn't fly. Friend's mom was a bad girl, too. Woman's got good radar. We found them in about 10 minutes.
My son, on the other hand, has gone in a different direction. After a short career as a petty shoplifter, he has settled into the role of class clown and is busy driving his teachers and school administrators crazy....but at least it's not the cops. He could easily fail 8th grade because of his silly behavior, but there are worse things. Hey, with the state of public education in Florida, that might be the only lesson he learns all year.
Another thing that takes center stage in my life seems to be cheerleader politics. My daughter jr coaches for a team of dancers that is associated with a football/cheer/dance league. I had no idea that bitchy cheerleaders grew up to be bitchy cheerleader moms. It feels just like high school. I despised cheerleaders then, too.
