Good News :D

Pap smear came back negative. It's just the first in a round of tests, but at least it's a hopeful sign.

I was unusually productive this weekend. I don't know why. Maybe it was because Doug's friend was here all weekend. He's a drunken idiot, but a nice guy. He volunteers to help, or just does what he sees needs to be done. For example, he cleaned my pool. It still had crap in it from the hurricane that I just couldn't get out, even though I tried a hundred times....but he wanted to spend the weekend in the sun, and he told me he'd rather be doing something than just laying around, so he cleaned it. amazing. And he offered a million times to help me: make dinner, do the dishes, unload the groceries...no matter what was going on, he volunteered to help. Which is how people are supposed to behave. Not like the surly snarling pack of wild beasts that live in my house. To get any one of the pack to do anything, and I mean, really, the smallest job, I have to ask, nag, bitch, scream, and cut off privileges, then argue about how it's not fair. It's an exhausting, 6 hour process, minimum. Sometimes it take days, weeks...in some cases a year....It's so much less draining just to do everything myself, but there really isn't enough time in the day and I don't have the energy--for doing it all or for arguing it out. So i just live with the pigstye. How refreshing, then, to have this man offer to help at every turn. I mostly turned him down, because he's recovering from gum surgery and I thought he should rest and relax, but just to be asked...Is there anything I can do to help? What I wouldn't give to hear that once in a while from the beastpound.

Anyway, I did a ton of stuff. I helped with the pool, fixed the dishwasher, cleaned under the stovetop and replaced the burner bowls, cleaned the cabinets and fronts of all the kitchen appliances, washed the window curtain in the bathroom, cleaned the filters for the a/c, and did about 10 loads of laundry. In addition to everything I do all the time. I'm proud of myself.
