Illustration Program?

So it's dawned on me that I'd probably be much better suited for Illustration than Animation.

To anyone who's taken it,what's it all about? What sort of skills do they focus on? Is it hard to get a job afterwards?

ALSO,Does anyone know what the Illustration portfolio calls for? Is it the same as Animation? Is it just as difficult to get into?
