If a total stranger's opinion counts, go with Joan Hickson, who was Agatha Christie's personal choice. Those adaptations are also much closer to the books; I saw part of the GMcE version of At Bertram's Hotel Nemesis, and they *completely* changed Verity's storyline. (Sorry, got a bit muddled myself--I did see a short part of Bertram's, too, and thought the look was all wrong, but the story change that annoyed me was Nemesis.)
Yeah, if you want the truest adaptations, go with Hickson. The newer Marple is a bit like Sherlock in that the writers often go in a different direction. Or just use parts that suit.
Personally I enjoy both, but it's probably a matter of taste.
