Hello again. I've actually got some down time - the work crews went into town to distribute posters, and I elected to stay here. Why, you ask? Why didn't I go to town, where I could 1) get ice cream and 2) actually USE my cell phone?
It's snowing!!
Okay, not a lot, but it's pretty windy, and yes, it's definitely snowing:
It's more or less stopped at this point, but I'm not too upset at the prospect of a quiet night in my room, especially now that my space heater is working. Things worked out a bit differently than I'd thought they were going to - instead of staying in a cabin, I'm actually staying in the main lodge:
The perks:
1) my own room
2) my own bathroom
3) I'm close enough to the main office to pick up the wireless internet signal
4) The view (it was snowing hard enough a few minutes ago that you couldn't see the mountains)
The lodge is the oldest part of the camp - in fact, they're celebrating its 100th anniversary this summer. All very exciting.
I had an amazingly productive day today. I wish I could be this productive at home, working on my own stuff. In a little over seven hours, I rewrote (read: cut and pasted shorter versions) 40-45 faculty biographies for a program booklet I'm putting together. I also drafted 12 of 15 programs and wrote most of the introductory material for both the booklet as a whole and for each concert. I'll need to to more formatting tomorrow, but I finished writing almost all of it today. Yay.
Tomorrow I get to help organize stuff for registration and for Alumni Weekend, among other things. Once Alumni Weekend is over and student registration has come and gone on Monday, I'll spend most of next week actually figuring out what it is I'll be doing for most of next year. I've already gotten the impression that Heather (the woman I'll be replacing) more or less runs the place. No pressure.
One last picture, and then I shall leave you for the evening. There is a storage shelf above the shower in my bathroom, and among the many things up there (many of which I'm sure have been long forgotten) is this:
