In lieu of treadmilling, I've taken advantage of the nice (and significantly cooler) weather over the last few days to walk outside. For those of you who live in Bloomington and actually know what I'm talking about, I only live about 1/2 mile away from Bryan park, and it's really a crime that I don't go there more often. It's so much more fun to walk around the park a few times than to walk/jog the equivalent distance on the treadmill.
Many people I've talked to tell me that walking/running on a treadmill is much harder on their knees/ankles/whatevers than walking outside, but I've found just the opposite. Random parts of my legs are SO sore after my last few excursions. To be honest, I'm definitely walking/jogging further than I do when I'm on the treadmill (because I don't get bored as easily, and because I can't just stop if I'm still a mile from my apartment), but it's not like I'm talking about miles and miles here. I'm really kind of discouraged by how sore I am. I'm hoping it will get better the more I continue to do it, because I'm really enjoying it. I'm also hoping that a trip to the chiropractor in the morning will help matters, especially around my hips. We shall see.
In other news, I think I've FINALLY finished my long-term planning for Z101. I tend to obsess over stuff like this forever, rather than moving on and actually working on more concrete things . . . like, I don't know, lesson plans. But I've really worked everything out at this point - syllabus, schedule, listening list, supplemental listening list, writing assignments - and I really need to start sketching lesson plans, especially for the first week. I also need to figure out how to use OnCourse. What an exciting weekend this will be.
Nighty night, all.
