Anyone else here ever been told to drink aloe vera?

It's . . . rather nasty, actually, although I suppose it's pretty much what I imagined drinking aloe vera would be like. It's texture more than taste that I'm reacting to, I think. And I only have to drink 1-2 oz. at a time - the bottle says you can drink up to 8 oz. a day. Blech!

But it's supposed ( Read more... )

Hey hun,

Remember the monthly fasting cleanse I told you about that I was doing? It is actually made out of aloe vera gel. The texture is funny, but it is flavored, very lightly, with natural fruit juice extracts. If you're interested in learning more about it I can send you the link . . .

*hugs* Hope you feel better soon!
Love and miss you ~

Hi sweetie ~

I think you had told me about this, but I didn't remember the aloe part. The stuff I have right now is 99.7% aloe vera - I think if it had some kind of fruit component it might be a bit more bearable. I've tried mixing it with fruit juice, but then I just end up with funny tasting juice. :) Ah well . . . things are kind of up in the air with my doctor right now, and I'd definitely be interested in learning more about what you're using.

Shall we try that phone call again soon? :) *hugs*

You know, I don't really notice it after I've swallowed it, although it's supposed to have a smoothing effect throughout the GI tract. The jury is still out . . .

I hope you survived your plane trip! :)

I actually have had aloe vera before,...
A friend of mine actually used to make fruit smoothies and put a couple of tablespoons of it in them to help "detox" after eating a lot of junk food. It's supposed to be really good for cleansing your system, if you know what I mean.

I do, in fact, know what you mean. :) It also has really high anti-inflammatory properties, which I think is the goal at the moment . . . but detoxing is always good.

Hahaha . . . that pretty much sums up my experience: I've heard that it's fabulous, and I'm hoping that it's worth it . . . but it's not my beverage of choice at the moment. :)

I suppose as long as they don't tell you to drink icy-hot...

I hope it worked and I'm sorry we missed you last night!

I really missed you guys last night . . . it sounds like it was lots of fun . . .

I am just better off on my couch right now. Alban is a fiesty bugger . . . I'm supposed to give a lecture on Monday, but right now I can't stand up straight. Should be interesting.
