Breading the Towards, Part Two! (more images!)

Actually, this wouldn't be treading the boards so much as treading the gravel! In 2005, elfowls_nest and I finally listened to Uncle Vlad's recommendations and tried out for roles at Castle Blood, a haunted house about 1 hour south of Pittsburgh in the tiny, tiny town of Beallsville, PA ( Read more... )

...d00d, you've done game voice acting? I so did not know that and it's totally awesome.

Personally? I actually have a lot of acting experience for being so shy and quiet. ^^;;

I always loved music and singing, and when I was about 6-7 my mom enrolled me into a summer music theater camp with a couple of my friends. We spent a couple weeks learning acting, singing, dancing, and at the end we put on a musical play for all our parents. I absolutely loved it, and went every year after that until I was too old for the age group anymore. After that, in 5th grade I was in my first "real" play, The Wizard of Oz. I was a munchkin and a person in the city of Oz, and got to miss 2 weeks of school to perform and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

I had one play in 8th grade, but most of middle school was just band and choir. But high school was back into drama, where all my friends were after school as well. I got another chorus part in my first play, and some things happened that made me decide to be a part of the behind the scenes stuff instead of on stage. So for 3 years I did a mix of tech crew - moving sets, props, eventually in charge of raising and lowering all the curtains - and also I started playing my french horn in the orchestra pit for the musicals. It wasn't the same as being on the stage, but I liked it just as much. I did enough time and work that I became a member of the National Thespian Society.

I wish I could say I had more recent experience, but 2003 is the last. Maybe someday. My favorite part of being onstage is the singing, because I've found that even if there's hundreds of people watching... I'm not scared. I almost feel like a different person.

I shared because you asked, but I want to say thanks so much for sharing what you've done as well.

Thank you! It's great to hear what other people have done.

I think that having a big audience is great -- because how can you be nervous about so many people at once? I can't focus on any one of them. I am glad it works that way for you. ^^

Maybe we can get you to a convention sometime and get you a part in one of our productions. The Parallax-Second Players have had people in other states take parts in the plays before. Woo hoo!
