in particular, the peeve relates to trains which are listed as leaving Southern Cross station for Frankston; only after you're on it and the doors have closed and the train is moving out of the station does the announcer say "Train departing is now the 5:35 Pakenham train, stand clear please" (Stand CLEAR? We're INSIDE IT), requiring a brief trip to Flinder's Street (and the train always stops a hundred yards out of the station and waits for several minutes, just to reinforce the feeling of helplessness) and a romp to whichever platform happens to be distributing Frankston trains.
i consider this a peeve because it has happened to me four times in the past eight days and, given the price of tickets, i tend to expect better service than this.
mind you - "Expect away", as Bernard Black said to one of his outraged customers. short of armed insurgency, there isn't anything to be done about this, and i don't own those kinds of weapons.
