A/N: This is my first time posting here. This is very mini Shep whump. Hope that's okay.
John padded from his bedroom, through the living room and to the front door, cursing.
“Whoever’s ringing my goddamn doorbell at three in the morning, this had better be important. End-of-the-world important. Do you hear me?” he shouted to the door as the doorbell rang again. “I’m coming! But I swear, if this isn’t -” He flung the door open and immediately forgot the rest of his threat. “Rodney?”
Rodney stood on the porch, finger poised over the doorbell. He met John’s eyes, intense, and John’s heart seized.
“What’s wrong? What happened?” John squinted into the darkness to peer past Rodney. He expected to see a military escort or a police car or something besides Rodney’s car running in his driveway. Rodney McKay did not drive 200 miles in the middle of the night looking totally pissed off for nothing.
“Nothing’s happened, Sheppard.”
John’s eyes widened. He could count on one hand how many times Rodney had called him Sheppard since they left Atlantis 10 years ago.
“Rodney, what the -”
Rodney suddenly shoved him. Hard. Startled and still half-asleep, John stumbled backward, lost his footing and fell on his butt. He stared up at Rodney.
“What the hell his going on here?”
“Oh, ha ha. You thought you were so freakin' funny. A joke that took 25 years to get to the punch line.” Glaring, Rodney pointed at his own head. “I do so still have my hair!”
