Those days are over now.

Grady’ation - It arrived slowly and passed quickly.

Now there is a light beige piece of paper in a frame on my desk that basically says: “Thanks for donating $50k to Rutgers, now time to get your hands dirty in the real world, ‘lil boy." Actually, it’s a really pretty piece of paper and I’m quite happy.

The Wednesday ceremony was very nice. They held it at the athletic center indoors so everyone could be all warm and dry. There were only 350 of us that day so the whole scale of things felt small and personable. At one point, I was shocked to be called to the stage and receive highest honors for my department. I had no clue that they were going to do that. It was a nice feeling being cheered on my by classmates - most of whom I have had shared two years of the same classes with.

The Thursday ceremony, on the other hand, was much less than optimal. It rained just about all day and was raw and cold when there was nothing coming down from the heavens. All 2,400+ of us grads were out in the cold with the thousands of friends, family members, faculty, and admin. We had three student speakers that day. One of them was very humorous and did a good job. One of them was a very poor public speaker so she was difficult to follow. And then… there was “that girl” - you know the one who turns her college reflections on the class into the “::giggles:: I / Me ::giggles::” show. Despite the fact that she tried to lighten the load of self-glorification with a random reference to “Men in Black” (nobody was quite sure where this fit in the grand scheme of things), the speech was terrible and one almost felt embarrassed for the girl. At one point in her speech she transitioned with “In conclusion,” and the 10,000+ person audience went wild and applauded that she was finally finishing. Welcome to the real world, honey! ;-P

Life Beyond School - Lotsa changin’ going on.

Now I’m home down the Jersey shore once again. I haven’t done all too much in terms of productivity the past few days, although I have been enjoying my first few days of an all too short work-free time.

The highlight of my weekend was spending Friday evening and Saturday with Mike. It goes without saying that I had a wonderful time those days. We will be getting together again this week and I can’t wait! Some amazing things are happening with this one. :-)

Today, I was planning on calling up my future employer to check up on how things are going and how the process is coming along. Last time I spoke to them was back in February and they said to hang out for a few months and they would get back to me. Now, it is 4 months later and the proposed start date is a mere 1 and 1/2 away. I need to know what is going on. I’m strangely a bit nervous about calling them, though.

In the event that everything goes as planned and work begins the week of July 14th, I plan on finally moving out of my house down the shore once and for all. Garber has a room open in his house on Hamilton St. up in New Brunswick and we have talked about me swiping it up sometime between early to late August. The rent is sweet and the location is pretty ideal. To boot, it puts me about a half hour closer to Mike!
