*Book carefully selects a handful of books from his shelves and picks up a small board and some chalk. HE heads into the common area and takes a seat at the table.*

Good morning young one. Have a seat. I think its about time you learned your letters.

*blinks* I'm eight. I know my alphabet. I know I'm Jayne's daughter, but give me some credit. *sits down* So, are you a shepherd?

[shepherd_book]

Fair enough. Do you like to read? How are you with numbers?

[_killian_]

*grins* I read a lot better than a lot of adults, and understand most of the basics for algebra and geometry. My mama made sure I had good tutors while we lived back home.

[shepherd_book]

Well then. Have you ever read Plato? How about Thoreau?

[_killian_]

Haven't read them. Mama didn't have their books, but she did give me a Shakespeare book once. *smiles*

[shepherd_book]

Shakespeare? Did you like it? Would like to read more like plays or try something else?

[_killian_]

Well, Daddy is reading Watership Down to me. I can read it myself, but it makes him feel useful. I'd like to read more, but not in front of him. He might feel odd with his child being smarter than him. *sighs* He does need looking after sometimes, doesn't he?

*Smiles and chuckles softly*
Sometimes. Tell you what, follow me and I'll show you where I keep my books. I'll just leave a paper so you can note which ones you take. I'd appreciate only one at a time. If you want to talk about what you're reading, just stop and say hi.

Ok now, These are political, these over here are philosophy. This whole section is on religeon. And this set of shelves is all my fun stuff, plays, poetry, science fiction, biographies, and stuff written in other languages. Take a look and let me know what calls to you.

*Gets out a piece of paper and a pen. Writes Killians reading list on the top of the paper and hands it to Killian.*
