I'll give you beep beep!

Over the past few months, The Volvo's steering wheel-located horn buttons had got into such a parlous state - probably due to their age and the amount of use they have had during my ownership of the car - that they often sounded the horn at will without being touched, usually when cornering at low speeds and in situations where the steering wheel was turned a lot, such as during parking, as kyyanno can attest to. The situation became so annoying and embarrassing that when the horns once again started to sound on their own yesterday afternoon (in the local Tesco's car park during a low speed manoeuvre- the latest of many such occurrences that day), I pulled the buttons off the wheel, resulting in blissful silence. However, I now have no horns at all, as the forced removal of the buttons broke them enough to prevent them from ever working again :/

Luckily, as Volvo Cars keep parts available for their older models available forever, replacement horn buttons can be obtained from their dealers. Armed with some part numbers (thanks to Des from the Volvo Owners Club forums), I shall hasten to my local dealer forthwoof and place an order for a brace of them, which should hopefully sort things out :)
