Alright, you know what, people? STOP THE BLOODY NEGATIVE ADVERTISING! We are not impressed by what your opponent can't do; show us what you can. If you stand for something, tell us about it. Quit the fucking mudslinging already and do something productive. If you donated some of that money instead of using it for silly commercials voters would be ( Read more... )

I expect most people are thinking this, so why does nothing change? Things just get worse over the years, it seems. ;_;

*places one foot on soapbox*
The first and only time I voted was in the presidentials, in '04, as a Democrat. I'm not voting for a governor, because at this point in time I don't know what the hell party I affiliate with (not to mention I've developed quite the distaste for most aspects of bipartisan politics). It really saddens me to hear that this is going on in every state. They need to be told that what they are doing is childish. They're not making anyone want to vote for anyone. They're just making everyone want to NOT vote for people. If they could at least say something good about themselves, or even SHOW us something they can do, people would be feeling better about it. It's not a good campaign technique by any stretch, what they're doing.
*steps off soapbox*

Word!
Over here in NJ, it's quite dirty, especially on Kean's part. I'm glad we're voting for Menendez.

Who might they be, and what do they stand for? Sorry, I'm just so wrapped up in Wisconsin angst that I'm not sure what's going on in other states.

Kean is the Republican candidate for Senate, and Menendez the Democratic.

"We are not impressed by what your opponent can't do; show us what you can."
The only problem is if they did that nobody would know there was an election on - simply for the reason they wouldn't be able to think of anything else to put.

Strangely enough, there's a Drama/Comedy series going on over here at the moment called "The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard". The idea is the British public are so fed up with the three main parties at Election time that they vote in an ordinary woman (previously a supermarket manager) to become Prime Minister. It's a rather interesting concept.
