Untitled Shenny fanfic
I decided to post my first fanfic here. I was gonna do a one shot but I am a perfectionist and it was never good enough that way. So it wont be a huge one but a few chapters. This is part one.
I know I am not the best at writing Sheldon.... I try... but he is very hard to write at times. Maybe its because we are alike in many ways and I have a hard time writing about myself. At any rate, the entire idea is already out in my mind, I just can't type that fast. So here you go. Comments welcome
Sheldon sat in his spot, staring off. It had been quite a few minutes since he had actually been listening to the guys or the tv. Howard tried to get his attention.
"Sheldon! Earth to Sheldon, are you still with us?" he asked
Howard clapped loudly and startled Sheldon. He frantically looked around.
"Sorry guys. I just have a lot on my mind." he said softly
"Anything you care to share?" Leonard asked
He didn't answer. He stood up, and walked casually out the door. The guys gave each other the looks they often did when Sheldon was acting more odd then usual. They were concerned but just wanted to let him walk it off, and got back to their show.
Sheldon was outside Penny's door. He had never taken this long to start knocking. The fear was building up inside him. Maybe this was a bad idea. He talked himself back into it and eventually began his knocking ritual.
Penny had been so used to hearing it. *Knock* "Penny" *Knock* "Penny" *Knock* "Penny" so she actually just started taking her time to open the door and wait for him to finish. This time he sounded strange, she got slightly worried. The third knock was not there yet, so she opened the door. "Are you ok?" she asked Sheldon
He just gave her a look, grabbed her face gently and kissed her. She pulled away to ask him what that was about. "Come in, we should talk" she said. He did, and he was smiling. Finally, after years of waiting, he got to kiss Penny. Nothing else mattered right now.
Leonard noticed how long time had actually passed. It had now been a few hours, not even a call from Sheldon. Sure he thought Sheldon was crazy but he was his roommate and his best friend. He tried to call him but no answer, so he set out to look. The last place he thought he would be, is across the hall, with Leonard's ex girlfriend. He decided after looking for a while to go see if maybe Penny had heard from him. Sometimes Sheldon would tell her things that no one else knew. It was worth a shot, regardless of how akward things were.
He knocked. She opened the door. She had clearly just been in the shower.
"Have you seen Sheldon?" he asked "He just up and left a few hours ago and we have not heard anything from him since. Maybe he is truly crazy after all." he smirked with that last part, he had no trouble mocking Sheldon because he didn't think he would get it anyway or be offended.
Penny had no idea what to tell him. The truth would literally kill him. She was not ready for it yet. If she stood there with the door open long enough or if he asked to come in, he would see Sheldon at her place. So she lied. "No, sorry. I'll see if I can get a hold of him and have him come back" she waved him off and said she had to get dressed. She closed the door.
Leonard thought it seemed a bit odd how she had reacted. He decided to go ask Amy. Maybe Sheldon had gone there. They were not dating anymore but they were still good friends. She had not seen him either. She invited him in though and he went in to chat a bit while they waited to hear something.
Penny told Sheldon he had to go. If he stayed too much longer, everyone would grow more suspicious. He agreed and went back home. He called Leonard to tell him he was alright, he said he was just walking around and stopped at a park for a bit to think. What really happened though, Sheldon was still trying to wrap his head around. He knew Leonard would be so angry, the thought of him ever finding out had made Sheldon nervous.
Weeks later, Penny had come over to eat with the guys as usual. Although she was sick and was not able to really each much. She still wanted to be there chatting. Howard was being his usual perverted self but it made her laugh anyway.
Raj had been able to actually come around to talking to her, which was nice, and Leonard was still trying to woo her again, he just could not accept that was not meant to be with them.
"Sheldon" she said "Do you still need a ride to the train store?" She motioned for him to go in the hallway.
"What is up with them? Have we entered a parallel universe?" Leonard asked the guys.
"It is quite odd, isn't it. They always hang out but now its like they exclude us" Raj said, "Maybe they are dating" he joked
Leonard rolled his eyes at the thought.
Penny was trembling, trying to look him in the eye. This was surely the most terrifying thing she had to do so far, but then, she also would have to tell Leonard, and that was even worse.
Sheldon just outright asked her "Are you pregnant?"
Penny was confused… how could he possibly know? She had barely gotten a word out. She shyly shook her head.
"And its…?" Sheldon started
"Yes." she said with a smile. "Yes, its yours"
Now it was Sheldon's turn to tremble. He was able to handle most things well but this, his instinct was to run. He smiled at Penny and said "Tell the guys I am going to visit my mom. I'll be back in a few. "
"That's your response?!" she asked, quite annoyed
"We will discuss this later, Penny" he told her and went off to get on a train to see his mom.
Mary Cooper was surprised but very excited to see her son. She sensed something was wrong and instantly went to make him some tea so they could get talking. She handed him the mug. "Thank you." he said.
"Shelly, do we need to pray?" Mary asked
Sheldon rolled his eyes. His overly religious mother really annoyed him sometimes but he deeply loved and cared for her. Now was not the time for sarcasm. He just politely said no.
"I did something bad. Something "Jesus" would not be proud of" he blurted out after a long silence
"Bad? How bad? Do I need to bring you to church? Oh Shelly, you didn't snap did you? I thought maybe someday you might but I hoped I was wrong" her voice trailed off as she noticed he turned away.
She went to hug him and started to sing soft kitty. He cut in.
"Soft kitty is for when your sick"
She nodded. It pained her to see him this way and was not sure how else to get through to him. She was about to pray out loud for him, he stood up and just ranted off
"She is pregnant. I am the father. I know she would never consider marrying me. I should of never done anything. I was just tired of waiting and tired of seeing her so sad. I thought I was a good choice for her and now I don't know what to do. I, the genius that I am, have no idea, how to solve this."
"Amy? I thought you said you broke up." Mary said
He shook his head no.
"I can't hear anything when you don't speak, Shelly. No to the break up or Amy… or both?"
"We broke up. Its not Amy" he said
Mary seemed confused. She knew her son had very few friends, let alone, female friends. Bernadette was married to Howard and he just confirmed Amy and him broke up. Penny was still hung up on Leonard last time she spoke to her.
He whispered "Penny"
Mary was completely shocked. The baby out of wedlock was the least of her worries now. Was he serious?
"Shelly, are you sure? You had a long trip. Maybe you should rest. I know Penny was still talking about Leonard when I last spoke to her."
"I am not a liar!" he was upset that she assumed he was. "I am in love. Its just, as you said, I am sure she still wants Leonard so there is nothing I can do about it"
LOVE?! Did her son, just say he was in love? Mary was really shocked now. This could not be the Sheldon she knew.
He pulled out the ring to show her. "I wanted to ask her to marry me, but now, it will look like I just want to because of the baby"
"Where did you get that?" Mary asked
"We went shopping at a jewelry story a while back. A man suggested that perhaps I get a ring for the lady. Even though I then bought something for Amy, I also bought this." he said
"You bought the ring for Amy?" Mary was a little confused
"No. Penny. I had hoped anyway that someday I'd get the chance to ask her. Even if someday was years away. She is my best friend. I want to be with her forever." he said… again trailing off.
Mary noticed he was actually almost crying. This never happened to him. Sheldon didn't like to be hugged and singing was not working. She was not sure what else to do for him. She went and sat next to him and looked him in the eyes "Shelly, aside from the fact that Jesus would think its the right thing to do, you need to tell her how you feel and ask her. If you are serious about her. Don't let her slip away. She is a very strong woman who is able to deal with your shenanigans and I really like her. She would be great for you. You can not just leave her hanging. Go back to Pasadena now and tell her. Love doesn't happen very often son."
Sheldon nodded. He finished his mug and decided to call Penny before heading back. He had to tell her he was actually excited by the idea of a baby Sheldon. A new mind he could mold into his genius status. They had to discuss the looming issue for them though…. telling Leonard.
