so as i told eric yesterday, i am in a wonderful house on a hill surrounded by vineyards, overlooking a long blue lake, across which are the french alps and a town called evian (where their were fireworks last night during dinner). the highest peak in the alps should be in sight... almost. but when we went into lausanne for dinner and a night out today, the peak was covered by clouds. this lake reminds me of the okanogan, and sitting outside eating supper on their balcony raminded me of doing that when grandma and grandpa lived in peachland. it was also hot and humid like it used to be there. anyways, the family we are staying with has two girls, danielle who is almost 17 and who we went out with (the drinking age is 16 for beer, wine and cider)(and neither ayns nor i had a drink tonght), and margo is 14. theyre pretty cool, and hanging out with danielle makes me think of my dear cousin madeline even more. u better be missing me too. so we went to the olympic museum-lausanne is the headquaters of the International olympic organization- and then walked in the rain to a restaurant. i walked uner the highest high jump ever... and it felt like walking through a soccer goalpost. 2.? meters high i think. so dinner was with all danielles friends who were pretty cool, but i hate the way ppl can smoe everywhere here. i STINK right now and my throat hurts. because after dinner we also went to 2 bars full of smoke. before the bars, we stopped by an oldies concert by the water, and there was the most funny OLD man who was very lively, wearing a kilt and a matching cowboy shirt, and doing the funniest dance moves while not many ppl were dancing. he was loving it. ha ha, i took a video. good for him to have so much fun.
so. what else. o, this afternoon, ayns and i did laundry so we have clean clothes!!! and then went for a bike ride. we saw the amazing view here. wow. love it, gorgeous, wish u were here. and we looked like the biggest dorks while doing it... i am so not used to wearing a helmet, but glad we did cuz the roads were so narrow and the cars were kinda fast. a train thing also drove by on the road. kinda like tinkertown u know. the train, i mean. so friday night we went winetasting at his cute little place before supper... and everyone in this town is Super friendly to eachother.. however the swiss in general are not so nice. they are pushy (when getting on trains etc) and the lady at the museum actually lied and told me there was no bathroom because it was almost closed. what a biatch. i wanted to see if there was a hand blowdryer, because my sweater was soaked from washing it a couple hours earlier and i was freezing. lol.... didnt have to pee. u all were wondering, i no.
danielle and margos parents have been so nice to us. very welcoming and know what travellers are craving (cheese, laundry, good fruit) really happy we stayed here. and ps, the chocolate is WONDERFUL.
i am very sad to have missed liannas birthday and that she for some reason didnt get her phone message, but very happy to have talked to her on msn and several emails and that she got her birthday postcard on the right day. and also happy that she posted some funny pics of us having a good time taking stupid pictures on her facebook. not so happy everone else can seee them, but they made me laugh.
so tomorrow.. in like 6 hours, we head for venice for one night, then to rome for monday and tuesday nights. then probably to nice for wed-sat, so we can chill with our texan interlaken friends weds night, and then beach it up or daytrip to monaco, then party friday and maybe saturday with mara (who we met up with in interlaken) and a bunch of her highschool friends. sunday night to tuesday evening would be barcelona, and then night train on tues night to paris and leave for home friday morning. so thats the plan, but its only booked until rome. so well see. its really not set in stone.
what else should i say... if u ever go to interlaken, stay at balmers. its a little village. and be prepared to party and do crazy things like canyoning. apparently my bro and his friend wanna come here in like a month. sux theyre not with us now, but at least i have a 6 min internet token chris can use there, cuz i just found it. lol. of course now. and i lost my facewash there. maybe he could use it. lol. i really stink of smoke. GROSS.
i am really tired so hopefully thats all u need to read. o, actually today i saw a man walk into the supermarket in boxers and a jacket. danielle had to ask me if he was wearing any pants. apparently its not common to see here.
